The only thing THAT MIGHT GET PASSED is a universal background check. That’s it.

Isn't that de facto registration?

Good luck finding them . Folks have been buying anything that is even remotely of military design from Mausers to Springfield 03’s to Sig 556’s . This is not folks buying in a panic its folks getting ready for a fight & it will be a dirty little war .

Under the subject of public discussion for a self-loading rifle ban list, the fact that any of the douchebags proposing have permits to carry concealed is merely a distraction. We’ll focus effort on it when it’s a moot point, since having a permit and the particular weapon they carry, regardless of the overall hipocrisy, isn’t germaine to this arguement.

***I bought a mini 14 in 1976 when they first cam out for $156***

That is what I paid for mine back at the same time. Sold it when I got hungry, then found they had disappeared from the market. I later found the French Police were buying them up for riot control.

I don’t see the Mini 30 on that list, either.

No future sales , not allowed to buy , sell , give to heirs guns currently owned. Only able to surrender to the government.

Actually, don’t get comfortable with the list of nammed weapons.

There will lots and lots of weapons banned because of the verbal descriptions that will also be part of the bill. For example, the CZ Scropion is a semi-auto pistol that looks like a machine pistol. It isn’t, but it has a 30+round detatchable .32acp magazine. That along will make it illegal, plus its military charcteristics of having the magazine ahead of the grip and being able to use the magazine as a forward pistol grip.

The real issue is what will the language be in the bill that attempts to ban other weapons and will it be so broad as to include just about everything.

I feel like a tiger in a cage, being proded by sticks, waiting to be let out. The Dem’s and the media are doing a good job of getting folks blood pressure up, without giving too many specifics. For example the language about banning all semi-automatic weapons capable of having a magazine in excess of 10 rounds, could ban a common SKS (as there are after market 20-30 round magazines you could install), a common California legal Glock (as you could buy and use a non-california magazine in it).

What will be telling is how they treat things like say a Rossi 12+1 round 44 Rem Mag lever action rifle. It is not semi automatic, but it has a fixed magazine in excess of ten rounds.

As the problems are pointed out, it is my hoe that this will die in committee and take several Senators political careers with it.

If currently owned, you’re allowed to keep but required to report/register. Uh-hmmm..

Could you or someone explain to me what it means, this 3-d printer thing?

It prints in 3 dimensions.

It does not just lay down a single layer of ink on paper.

It prints out layer after layer of resin, plastic or the like to build a three dimensional object.

There is a short video example on the wikipedia site:

Thanks. I did not know that the SKS was a Norinco 56S variant.

Since there is no difference between so-called ‘Assault Weapon’ and other guns – isn’t this just sleazy tactic by the Democratic Oppressives to ban all guns?

BTW, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a ‘military feature’?

THE LIST WILL BE THE NAMES OF THE SENATORS THAT SUPPORT THIS.

THAT will be the LIST I want to see.

...I guess that list is comprised of people who think all the firearms not included in their ban aren’t capable of killing people...what else am I supposed to believe, when their stated goal is to not have guns killing people...
...I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, I really do, but...sometimes it’s not possible to do so...how foolish and useless can individuals be?

A 3D printer produces three-dimensional objects from high-density plastic. Pretty much any small object that you can create a CAD drawing for can be "printed" as a usable item. This technology is the great-grandaddy of the Star-Trek replicator. Same idea-push a button get a functional widget made from scratch.

The current generation of printers is limited mainly by size and the tensile strength of the plastics used to render the object. This will change rapidly. There are printers that create nanomaterials stronger than steel currently being tested in laboratories. Costs are very high (low five figures for the better models) but dropping.

The current generation of printers can produce functional weapons magazines. In a year or two they will be able to make anything...even an M16 receiver or a minigun...from a CAD drawing. Guns are about to go viral.

I don’t believe there is any dealer that sells guns, that doesn’t record your name and the weapons serial number. I got a muzzle-loader mail order, but there is still a paper trail if someone wanted to really find out. Every weapon I own, is recorded somewhere except for 3 long guns and 1 revolver.
