Biden: Putting armed guards in schools would be a “terrible mistake”

Vice President Joe Biden figuratively slapped the National Rifle Association in the face on Thursday, indirectly slamming its suggestion to put armed guards in every school in the nation.

“We are not calling for armed guards in schools…we think that would be a terrible mistake,” the VP said during a PBS “Fireside Hangout” on Thursday.

“The last thing we need to do is be arming school teachers and administrators,” he added.

The Vice President did talk about allowing schools to hire more mental health professionals and ‘resource officers.’ Biden said the current proposal — some $40 million for schools to hire these individuals — will not fully cover the cost of implementing these strategies nationwide, but it is a “way to begin the process.”

Biden’s backhanded insult came just minutes before he mentioned that he had met with the NRA during his gun safety task force meetings earlier this month.

But Biden’s position on armed guards isn’t one the administration has been pushing. During an interview with David Gregory on “Meet the Press,” Obama said he was “skeptical” of putting armed guards in schools, but refused to rule it out. And the federal government used to pay for a program to put armed guards in schools, something that Obama discontinued in 2012.

During the live chat, Biden also contradicted a questioner who asked about “gun control.”

“I don’t view it as gun control,” he said. “I view it as gun safety.”

The Vice President also mentioned he doesn’t care what semi-automatic weapons are called.

“I’m much less concerned quite frankly about what you call an assault weapon than I am about magazines and the number of rounds that can be held in a magazine,” he said.

“I’m much less concerned quite frankly about what you call an assault weapon . . ."

There's no such thing as an assault weapon, so your sentence is total nonsense. Whether the manufacturers call some products that to sell more weapons, or the liberals call them that to pretend the weapons themselves have aggressive motives, it's spectacularly wrong. Wrongheaded, deceptive, propagandistic, and wicked.

This is the same as saying, “The idea of putting automobiles on a four lane highway would be a terrible mistake!”

Of course, Bite-me forgets that Israel puts armed teachers in their schools every day. And, the terrorists stay away from the idea of shooting up Israeli school children.

Of course, Bite-me has a problem with remembering anything. Lucky he has his wife Jill to make sure he is wearing his pants when leaveing the house.

WHY .. is a simple word that demands some thought if you're really gonn'a answer.

Liars don't think, they're really very shallow, so asking them "why" is a true burden to bear.
They'll just skip right on past the word.

But if only someone would hammer the "why" .. we might actually GET some place.

Biden, would you please stop proving that a human-like thing can function without an operative brain? You’ve beaten that particular horse to death. And then to death again. And yet again.

IOW, please STFU, Biden. You’ve proven your stupidity to a degree that you have validated your role as obastard’s insurance against removal from office (e.g., impeachment). You can quit being THAT stupid, now. Or rather you could if you really weren’t THAT D#MN STUPID.

Are the Secret Service agents escorting Sasha and Malia to school just carrying spare calculator batteries, or are they armed? If armed, and we all know they are, why are weapons appropriate to protect Obama's children but not ours?

Our local Home Depot in San Diego now has an armed guard outside.

Anybody else see them in other places?

A few years back, a national chain opened a grocery store in a "food desert" in a city near me. There was an armed guard there at all times that it was open and it was open 24 hours a day.

The store was bleeding money, having to pay salary to the guards plus all the shop lifting. The guards weren't there to prevent shop lifting, they had in store security for that. The guards were there to prevent armed robberies, they stopped a few. The store finally had to close when one of the guards was murdered during a robbery. The rise in their liability premiums finished the store off, they closed the doors after 2 years in business.

The bigger mistake is that this moron, Joe Biden, has a bully pulpit to serially spew his stupidity across the United States.

The patriot blue states can solve this problem by designating every capable and sane male between the ages of 21 and 70 as a member of the state-sponsored militia and arm them according to their circumstance and ability.

Joe Biden is a nearly perfect contrary indicator.

Can he please just shut up?

Dems are getting sickening.

The “resource officers” are typically health and human services “counselor” types. The armed sheriff’s deputy at the high school the kids are at has an office, and hangs out there all day. Quite the cushy assignment if a person likes to sit on their butt all day.
