Chandra Levy murder conviction may be overturned due to questionable witness

Twelve years after her disappearance, and the case of Chandra Levy still hasn't reach it's conclusion. The 24-year-old Capitol Hill intern was last seen in May 2001. Following the disappearance, her family disclosed to police that she had been having an affair with U.S. Representative Gary Condit.

When Condit was unwilling to cooperate with investigators, speculation arose that he was behind the disappearance. While he was never charged, it completely derailed his political career.

The man who was eventually charged in her death, Ingmar Guandique, was convicted in 2010 with no physical evidence linking him to the crime. However, two other women came forward, claiming he had also attacked them in the same park where Levy's remains were found. Additionally a jailhouse informant claims that Guandique confessed the murder to him.

How involved was Condit with Chandra?

No one really knows about the true involvement angle. My guess is that Chandra did meet Condit on that fateful day...had a liaison, and then she left to accidentally run into the actual killer later at the park. The curious thing here is that if she hadn’t been killed that day...she would have moved up and now be a office manager for some Senator.

There are some of us, who don’t know who she is.

Or what this is about.

It was a big news story through Summer 2001. But dropped off the news focus after 9/11.

The happiest man in the United States on 9-11-2001 was U.S. Representative Gary Condit. The media hounded creepy Condit relentlessly throughout the summer.

Since Gary Condit and his missing mistress were the biggest 2001 news stories through Sept. 10, it would behoove you to do your own research on the topic.

Miss Levy was a pretty young woman. Conditt’s “promising political career” was sunk by the scandal. Now, as Bill Clinton becomes more and more an “icon”, it would be a badge of honor in the criminal enterprise known as the Democrat Party.

Condit looks like one of those quiet, violent persons. IIRC, he also had a record from his youth which was sealed and/or had disappeared.

The most interesting item I remember is that someone had phoned in a clue....the day before they were suppose to search the area where Chandra was eventually found.

Never thought the guy in jail was guilty. Why???....two living witnesses say he's not a killer, just a predator.

I think it was clear how involved they were. I believe Chandra told her Aunt Linda about the affair several times over a long period of time (although she may not have “named names”, just his title or position).

On 9/11/01 around 9:00 a.m., his story became a non-story. Still, it put an end to his career.

Some think that the ordeal put the fear of God into others in DC politics — Condit’s friends — and some left public service soon after, opting for private sector positions.

I believe Condit and half his family were soon back collecting Political paychecks. It's not like he lost his pension anyways.

Campaigned as "The Family Man". Right!!!

IIRC, Condit was into some real kinky stuff, leather bars, etc.

Kinky is right.

Condit's new girlfriend probably looks like Casey Kasem.

If I remember correctly, his political buddies had him hidden away in a house and LE was ready to pounce. The next thing we knew.....the towers were aflame....such a terrible day for us....

There’s a guy sitting in jail on charged trumped-up by the communist DNC operatives currently enjoying their tyrannical rule.

They blame him for Benghazi.

Should we doubt that Condit figured out a way to pin this on someone else?

Hey, this case was a national story for more than two years. Were you in a coma or 10 years old? You have to ask such a question?????
