MILWAUKEE (WITI) The Milwaukee County Sheriffs Office released a new public service announcement regarding gun safety on Thursday, January 24th that is getting attention for its bluntness. In the PSA, Sheriff David Clarke says, With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. But are you prepared? He goes on to say, You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. Were partners now. Can I count on you? CLICK HERE to listen to the PSA Jacob Schneider is a firearms instructor at the MGS Group attached directly to the Shooters Shop in West Allis. He is happy someone has finally spoken up about the need to own a gun. He is saying we are responsible, in a lot of cases for our own personal safety, said Schneider. If he does not feel he is capable of doing this, and hes not qualified to take on this role of public safety, he should resign and he should do it today, said Jeri Bonavia of the non-profit Wisconsin Anti-violence Effort. Bonavia says Clarke is asking citizens to become vigilantes.

Where I live the average response is about 15 minutes.
Ambulance protocol directs that the dispatched ambulance be staged and wait for the police to be sure the scene has been cleared before going onto the scene of any violent act.
It is not unusual for Volunteers to respond within 10 minutes and have to wait another ten for the Police to get there and clear the scene. Sometimes longer.
If you have an emergency calling 911 and waiting for the police is not a good option.
Bonavia says Clarke is asking citizens to become vigilantes.”
...IDIOT! Protecting your home and your loved ones is in no way vigilantism. National average for a cop to show at your door after the call is 6 minutes. This little creep is saying to wait it out. No thanks. 6 minutes is a looong time.
If hes not qualified to take on this role of public safety, he should resign and he should do it today, said Jeri.”
Jeri needs to educate herself, or perhaps that’s too inconvenient for her - it’s always nicer to avoid facts you don’t like. How sad others should have to look these things up for her. And even if they did have a responsibility, they simply can’t be everywhere.
Here, Jeri - “It is well-settled fact of American law that the police have no legal duty to protect any individual citizen from crime, even if the citizen has received death threats and the police have negligently failed to provide protection.” Warren v. District of Columbia, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. 1981).
“Law enforcement agencies and personnel have no duty to protect individuals from the criminal acts of others; instead their duty is to preserve the peace and arrest law breakers for the protection of the general public.”
Lynch v. N.C. Dept. of Justice, 376 S.E. 2nd 247 (N.C. App. 1989)
Two years ago we were stopped at a light in a nice section of town. A man came up and tried to carjack the car in front of us. The driver leaned over, pulled out a handgun and pointed it dead at the creep. Said creep takes off. I’m sure it was never reported, and I’m just as sure if the driver hadn’t been armed the whole thing would have ended badly.
--the difference is that the sheriff is elected and the C of P appointed by the wretch Mayor Barrett---
Sheriff Conway of Gwinnett County, Georgia (Atlanta Suburb):
“I ENCOURAGE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS TO ACQUIRE AND MAINTAIN THE SKILLS TO SAFELY CARRY A FIREARM IN ORDER TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.
SADLY, OUR SOCIETY CONTAINS THOSE THAT WILL HARM OTHERS WHEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY. AN ARMED CITIZEN CERTAINLY PRESENTS MUCH LESS OPPORTUNITY TO THOSE THAT WOULD DO THEM HARM.”
Something to think about.....
Do a FR title search on the word “sheriff” and check out all the headlines reporting the sheriffs who will not enforce a gun ban. It’s heartening!
And then read this: http://americanfreepress.net/?p=3590
Another Sheriff who get “it”.
This is really heartening and the link should go viral.
My own experience with a 911 call was 54 minutes wait time in a situation that could have been life threatening.
I was heavily armed, fortunately.
Most people don’t know that police only have an affirmative duty to act when they can do so without putting themselves in danger.
They actually believe when you call the police the police are required to stop the crime in progress, and they aren’t unless they can do so without putting themselves in danger.
Cop responds to a shooting at a school, he doesn’t have to enter that school by himself.
Call police for a school shooting and they will wait outside until a sufficient number of police are there to enter safely.
When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
Police are totally and completely not your best option.
You are your own 1st responder as situations that imperal you are likely to have a time limit under 2 minutes.
Grab yer weapon, shoot first, ask questions later.
Whatever one’s views are on guns the bottom line is “Only you can prevent your death and that of loved ones”.
I’m starting to think we need to fire all those fools in DC and send the sheriffs up there to do the job. Sounds like they wouldn’t be willing to sell their souls to make a $$$ deal.

Yikes, the deadly stutter post has hit me too!
Attention criminals: It is very likely that the home of Jeri Bonavia is a gun free zone; focus accordingly.
Or, what difference does it really make now. Who cares.
calling 911 is for when you are having a heart attack.
