After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.”
Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more.
Aside from being unconstitutional, experts on gun violence also point out that the draconian schemes are a bad idea: Studies have repeatedly shown that more guns lead to less crime, and the phenomenon is obvious across America — just compare Chicago or D.C. to Alaska or Wyoming. The mandated reporting requirements for doctors, meanwhile, have come under fire from across the political spectrum. Whether it will even be possible to enforce the bill, however, remains to be seen.
Preparations are already being made for mass resistance. “I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,’’ said President Brian Olesen with American Shooters Supply,

It was New York City where registration of semi-autos was followed by confiscation during the last half of the 20th century. Now I realize that the majority of New Yorkers are pretty stupid (as evidenced by their elected representatives) but maybe some have learned the lesson of history.

The fuse is lit in NY. Il Duce Cuomo either puts real teeth in his dictatorial law & says to law enforcement, “Obey my orders” or he loses his street cred.
Things could get ugly, & fast. He should pray that his stupid law gets ruled moot by the state supreme court.

Why are we calling it civil disobedience.”disobedience” implies that gun owners are doing something wrong.
What is happening is gun owners are refusing to comply with an illegal law.That is not “disobedience”, but is how the rule of law is supposed to work.

The government is preparing for the next civil war. But it will not be the north against the south. It will be the people against the government, so calling it the next civil war is a misnomer. It will be the next American Revolution.
The Second Amendment was NEVER about what type of arms citizens might own or about what the technological developments of the future might bring. It was not about hunting. It was not about home defense. It was not about target shooting. It was about the ability of citizens to oppose and resist the oppression of a tyrannical government.
Here is another thought. Does anyone think we would have and easier time with slavery in the US if the slaves were able to arm themselves?
Well they won't have rocksalt for you, but real lead, so anyone thinks that confrontations are going to be anything other than death to one side or the other had better wake up.
Think for a minute. The police come for your guns. They'll be armed with rounds designed to inflict the maximum damage and if you manage to hit one with 'rocksalt' before they kill you their vests will stop any damage. Now if you've set up some homemade claymores with tungsten shot to cover the approaches to your house, at least you'll be able to take a few with you before you are killed resisting arrest (Which WILL happen even if you surrender after killing any of the JBTs). Best NOT to be home when they come for you and your guns - like having an accomodation address and actually living somewhere else.

After watching Hannity of Fox last night, the revolution is long overdue starting in Washington DC and expanding to State and then City levels. The biggest majority of politicians are in it for the green money in their back pocket.
Correct! We are practicing fealty to the Constitution AND the Declaration of Independence. The former is the Law of the Land. The latter is the lawfully passed and ratified reset button should the powers that be forget to abide by the former.
