Skip to comments.Emails show FBI investigating Sen. Bob Menendez for sleeping with underage prostitutes (D-NJ)

The media are not covering this story despite the FBI agent in the emails saying that most of the information has been confirmed. If the allegations are true Menendez could be prosecuted under the 2003 PROTECT ACT making travel and having sex with minors knowingly or not a federal offense with up to 30 years in prison.
DOCUMENTS published online for the first time Thursday indicate that the FBI opened an inquiry into New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez on August 1, 2012, focusing on repeated trips he took to the Dominican Republic with longtime campaign contributor and Miami eye doctor Salomon Melgen. TheDC reported in November that Menendez purchased the service of prostitutes in that Caribbean nation at a series of alcohol-fueled sex parties.
The documents, which The Daily Caller had obtained hours earlier from an anonymous source, also indicate that Carrie Levine, research director at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), was alerted on April 9, 2012 to Menendezs habit of paying for sex while outside the United States.

Democrat, sexcapades? This is going to go.....nowhere.
The media is operating under their own version of the Protect Act. Its to protect democrat politicians from unfavorable media exposure.
LOL! How true..
Here are the details including the leaked emails from the FBI Special Agent working on the case in Sept 2012:
Check it out and spread it, contact media outlets and ask them to do some work!!
Was he actually sleeping with the prostitute, or simply having sex with her?
He didn’t sleep with underage girls. He statutorily raped them.
For democrats everything about this is a resume enhancer - since Menendez is a democrat.
“what difference does it make!!! wait... “
Yeah, where’s the next “lautencorpse” to take this seat?
He interviewing them for work visas; path to citizenship.
With a (D) next to his name you gotta wonder who he pissed off.
Check out the site, it seems to have testimony from one of the girls:
She said she met him several times and gives the dates (which should be verifiable with flight logs and what not) she said she was 16 at the time and one meeting was around her 17th birthday
The media has completely different standards for coving Democrat scandals. They mostly don’t. If a Democrat gets caught doing something illegal...and the story gets enough legs where the msm has no choice...they won’t mention the political party of the culprit...or they will present as...”nothing much to see here, move on”.
The msm and the Democrats are married.
Response: Of course he is sleeping with underage girls and boys. In addition, he has access to the finest wines and drugs at no charge to him. He has made millions in cash just by being in office. He waxes fat by way of $1,000 dollar meals. AFTER ALL HE IS A MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE!
That’s OK he needed to do this so CNN could give him a TV show. The Menendez Hour.
Frankly I think we need to find some investigative reporters in the Dominican Republic to find out what the hell is going on down there with the democrats.
It seems to be a favored vacation spot for democrat politicians and we need to find out why.
If it’s good enough for mere bodyguards of the ‘Resident in the White Hut I suppose it’s good enough for a senator. Sexual shenanigans seem to have become par for the course amongst politicians and their circle.
Easy access, poverty, minorities - easy exploitation for power/pleasure. Same old story for democRats.
Looks like Menendez can make a great case for becoming Majority Leader.
Menendezs habit of paying for sex while outside the United States.
His logic:Tax dollars at work for the childern.
if tax dollars were used it was accounted for as a fact finding mission.
He just got reelected, despite all the investigations going on. NJ people are just plain dense.
Democrats will protect him to the bitter end because Christie would appoint a place holder. But the way Christie’s heading these days, it would be a 50/50 shot he would even appoint a Republican.
He didnt sleep with underage girls. He statutorily raped them.
That may be true in the US but is that accurate for the Dominican Republic? And why do we care... If the Dominican Republic doesn’t prosecute why do we get involved?
I doubt any of the parties were actually sleeping.
Hey, he's probably paying those childern at least minimum wage.
First, there’s nothing illegal here. He didn’t violate any US law that I can see.
Now, if you can identify the news organizations that knew about this and just wouldn’t tell the story....that might be news. I’d like to hear about which media groups just dropped the story.
What is it with NJ Senators...?
The “torch”, the “corpse” and now the “perv”
If he was ‘sleeping’ with underage boys there would be no problems.
Age of consent in the Dominican Republic is 18. He was traveling internationally to do this so we are treaty bound to honor the treaties we have signed pursuant to sex tourism.
There are European airlines (Lauda Air and others) that make all their profits off of flights to Thailand that are heavily advertised on the underage sites and magazines... I understand that we have treaties but I don’t see where we should get involved. Let those countries file a complaint against our citizens , arrest them and keep them in Thailand/Dominican rep. etc. Our role should be to stand aside and let THEIR law enforcement do their job.
That is a resume enhancer for democRATs.
Reality check. Sex tourism is illegal and particularly with children it is prosecuted.
The FBI maintains offices in many foreign countries now to bring our offenders back to the US with less fuss. Look for missionary blogs from poorer asian countries and the topic of child brothels and the effort to rescue the kids comes up a lot.
Here is one: http://ratanakmissions.blogspot.com/?m=1
Indeed ever notice how many dems go on fact finding missions.
Being a dem he probably is paying them in IOU’s.
With Kerry moving to Secretary of State, Menendez is in line to become Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, thereby bringing a whole new meaning to that title. What a laughing stock. You can’t make this stuff up.
If Menendez raped 12 year olds, cut their bodies up and made snuff films the New York Times wouldn’t care. Media whores care about catching Republicans jay walking or something equally serious...
Hey New York Times and Washington Post - when I say ‘media whores’ I’m talking about you guys...
Had they been boys, there’d be even less coverage, if any at all.
Care? Perhaps sex with underage girls is OK by you but not by me. I want the scumbag out of Senate. If these allegations are true I doubt this NJ democrat will survive this. I don't think NJ will let it ride.
Perhaps your point is ... legally ... why is the FBI involved? I'll defer to others on the law.
He’ll say he did it all for the kids. Like Jerry Sandusky. Like PSU, the Senate will do everything they can to keep a lid on it.
This could headline news for weeks, sidelining the current media gun-control jihad and coming jihad on climate change.
I say leave him alone and let him embarrass (and shame) himself and the party. Fly the ‘victims’ to the U.S. and let us all see firsthand who he was doing it with. Our chances of keeping the seat 2 years after Christie appoints a replacement seem unlikely-another opportunity for Cory Booker to keep the seat forever.
Nothing to see here....this greasy SOB was just re-elected.
According to the reports he was sneaking off in a campaign donors private plane from Miami to attend the sex parties.
If a U.S citizen or resident is having underage sex abroad it is a federal crime under the 2003 PROTECT Act and subject to a maximum of 30 years in jail.
PROTECT Act 2003
That is troubling. If it’s not illegal in that country, whatever “that” is, it shouldn’t be prosecutable here.
We respect other culture and should respect their laws and customs .
That's quite interesting, for a variety of reasons. If a pharmaceutical company did clinical trials in another country that allowed experimentation on patients without full informed consent, and thus was not breaking a law in that country, they would be nailed to the cross here (rightfully so), no matter what the letter of the law says. The news media would be all over it, incessantly, until heads rolled. I don't care if he didn't break any US laws. This identifies him as a predator with no well-defined ethical core. Situation ethics are to some extent worse than no ethics. At least the unethical person who acts that way all the time, non-contextually, is consistent.
