Thousands of demonstrators rallied Saturday in Washington to demand tougher gun control laws, many describing themselves as first-time capital marchers who've had enough of gun violence.
On a cold day, a vanguard led a blocks-long procession with a big blue banner, declaring "March on Washington for Gun Control: When we stand together, we stand a chance."
The demonstrators want reinstatement of the federal ban on the sale of military-style semi-automatic rifles such as the one used in the recent Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting that left 20 children and six adults dead, plus the gunman and his mother. The protestors also want a ban on the sale of high-capacity ammunition magazines and universal background checks.

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan told an assembly of marchers, after they reached their rallying area midway between the White House and the Capitol, that Saturday's demonstration wasn't about the Second Amendment.
"This is about gun responsibility; this is about gun safety; this is about fewer dead Americans, fewer dead children," Duncan told the crowd.

A small counterdemonstration was held across the street from the gun control advocates' staging area near the Capitol. One gun rights advocate said he thinks people in schools should be armed -- a viewpoint he developed after the Newtown shooting.
"I could not figure out why government employees have armed guards, banks have armed guards to protect the money, but the government, for some reason, thought we don't need armed guards to protect our children," Dick Heller said. "Maybe they're less worthy. I don't know. I don't know what their thinking was. All I can't understand is why didn't they protect their children like the government protects itself?"

Politically Gun Control is the Liberals version of what Abortion is to Conservatives.
Their trying to pass laws (sometimes very harsh laws) to force people to behave in ways in which they very much disagree. (and large numbers of people).
This won’t turn out well for them politically. They will piss of large numbers of people.

Obviously CNN doesn't know that our nation is now controlled by the low information voter. They only "reeled" until another shiny object was dangled in front of them, now they have forgot about school shootings and moved on to the new season of American Idol.
All of them are on the government dole one way or another, or basically the elected democratic crooks forced their staff workers to “brave” the cold weather. I mock them and any conservative who has any respect for them.

Horrendous as the massacre was, there is absolutely no relationship between that and what is happening now. We have a radical leftist president, and the Left is taking this opportunity. The shootings, whether staged or not, are an excuse to take the guns away. If they succeed, the Constitution may never recover.
I know this has been said here before. It’s just that the absolute lack of connection is so extra crystal clear to me now that we have Gun Grabbers on Parade.
I noticed the dishonest, DUmb gun-grabbers are attempting to substitute pictures from some other protest as their own as seen at this link. You'll notice the people wearing t-shirts and shorts in the picture. It's summer time and not a cold January in DC.

Good catch on a MSM trick... Rather than ‘marching’ why don’t these people make a list of all the great cities where gun control has worked? You know, places like Chicago, Detroit and DC....

When a DA charges a gun with murder or manslaughter and NOT the person holding the gun, THAT’S when I will believe in gun control!!!

I don't think that's a sufficient reason, anymore. Orchestrated protests (by rent-a-mobs) get Washington's attention, NOT writing or phoning a Congresscritter. The left understands street demonstrations while country club Republicans are content to disagree with the marchers over drinks at the club. This is about "sound and fury representing nothing", not facts and not reality.
We will not preserve our country and our Constitution if we do not become more vocal. IOW, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
