You Came Real Close to Losing Your Life
A wheelchair-bound war veteran in Bogart, Ga. was targeted as a robbery victim. Given the fact that he is handicapped, the home burglar may have thought it would be the easiest job of his life.
Wrong.
Army veteran Mark Sikes told WAGA-TV he heard someone breaking down his front door. Thats when he pulled his 9mm handgun out of his drawer.
Next thing I know theres a man standing in the hallway of my house, looking in my bedroom, he said. I reached and got the gun out of my drawer and kind of raised it up He took off and ran out the front door.
The vet, who served as a military police officer in Korea, said he didnt think twice about what action to take.
Its either gonna be me or him. One of us have got to go, he said. And this is my house, this is my home.
Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the incident and looking for the suspect, who Sikes says was wearing all black and possibly had a getaway car waiting for him.
Now Sikes keeps his handgun even closer. In his interview with WAGA-TV, the veteran also told the man who tried to rob him he should be thankful hes still alive.
Find something else to do besides try to rob people, he said. Because you came real close to losing your life yesterday.
I’m another “disabled old fart” who has had three young idiots try to rob me. All three ended up in the hospital. They just ASSumed I was helpless. I fight back and I fight dirty.
Stephen King thinks he should have been shot and NRA members should’ve cleaned up the body parts.
Makes sense to a horror whore.
But this can’t be right! The guy had a high capacity magazine! There should have been dead children everywhere instead of a live perp. /sarc
In Massachusetts, I think they might press charges — the homeowner has a duty to run away if someone breaks in. Sometimes, that’s tough to do.
He should have plugged the SOB so he doesn’t victimize someone else.
Maybe you can tell us what make and model he had?
I just assumed it was more than 10 because the vast majority of 9mm are.
“In Massachusetts...the homeowner has a duty to run away if someone breaks in.”
Is the content of this page outdated? www.malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartIV/TitleII/Chapter278/Section8a
It clearly states “There shall be no duty on said occupant to retreat...”
Yep, fight dirty and fight to win, that’s what the service taught us.
Your link to the MA General Laws is probably more reliable than my memory. Perhaps MA is not as crazy as I think.
I haven’t take a count lately on how many are or are not over 10 rounds.
That would be hard to do for a guy in a wheel chair.
"Stand up, Chuck!"
Chuck disobeyed a direct order from Joe Biden.
Too bad he didn't kind of pull the trigger.
