Palin: 'We can't just preach to the choir'
The Politico ^ | January 26, 2013 | Mackenzie Weinger

Posted on 01/26/2013 4:59:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

In Sarah Palin’s first interview since parting ways with Fox News, the former Alaska governor said she doesn’t want to “just preach to the choir" and that she is looking to take her message to a "larger audience."

Palin told Breitbart News there needs to be “more truth-telling in the media” and called for fellow conservatives to follow her lead and expand their audience.

“I encourage others to step out in faith, jump out of the comfort zone, and broaden our reach as believers in American exceptionalism,” she told the conservative news site in a short Q&A. “That means broadening our audience. I’m taking my own advice here as I free up opportunities to share more broadly the message of the beauty of freedom and the imperative of defending our republic and restoring this most exceptional nation.”

“We can't just preach to the choir,” she said. “The message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience.”

It was reported Friday that Palin had parted ways with Fox News after three years and would no longer be a paid contributor. Palin joined Fox News in 2009, after she resigned as Alaska governor.

As for her future plans, Palin told Breitbart News the “door is wide open.”

“I know the country needs more truth-telling in the media, and I’m willing to do that,” she said. “So, we shall see.”(continued)

It seems that our country is under attack...it has been successfully divided by the Obama and the Libs.

There are very few who have not joined a choir. There are only two...the Left Choir and the Right.

We will never win any of those on the Left...they are dead to us.

We need to scream the truth...but don't be heartbroken when none on the left join us.

Palin is wonderfull...but her sell-by date has expired.

This is true. How do you change 51% takers? 74% of unmarried women voted for Obama. If the percentage of the voting married population were the same as when Reagan got elected, Romney would be in the White House today. To make matters we have RINOs like McCain, Graham, Rubio, as part of a bipartisan caucus for post-Reagan (Simpson-Mazzoli), Amnesty II.

Good luck Ms. Palin, But Obama’s re-election has sent us all over the cliff.

You can say that again.. less and less people are showing up for choir practice...
Wonder what that means?... maybe less and less members of the choir?..

Republican pastors are getting blown off course.. and when I say blown I mean blown.. the republican party sucks..

For an example, look at the Catholic vote. They started voting Democrat in the 1800’s as a reaction to the Wig party (which became the Republicans). Now, as the Democrats have morphed into an anti Catholic, if not anti Christian, party Catholics still vote for them.

Why? Because their Great Grandfather was treated bad by the Republican Know Nothings. It has become a tribal identity. Even the bishops are scared to confront anti life Democrat Catholics, because they know that their first loyalty is to the party, not the Church.

For someone to leave the tribal party, you risk alienation. Ask Alan Keys how much he lost by joining the GOP. To break that sort of tribal identity you need change the leaders of that tribe. Which doesn’t happen very often, and which we as conservatives are going to be at a disadvantage.

Now, I do believe we need to approach people on a personal level. Reach out to them. But we also need to be aware that the tribal identity (be it race, gender, religion, whatever) will push a great many away no matter what.

Then why is she still headline news? Who is this “center left” Republican candidate who will ease the Hispanics, Asians and blacks back into the GOP tent without the party becoming a pale reflection of the Democratic Socialists? Are you saying that the USA is destined for one party rule from now on?

Maybe. More likely than not there will be a tyranny soon. We are nearing the end of the democratic phase of history. The republican died a long time ago.

We already have a few families who control a lot of the power.

Unless someone can buy NBC and ABC and CBS, it’ll be almost impossible.

In another thread, I proposed something that actually quite doable and, I think, attainable. I have a plan of how a fulltime Patriotic media outlet can be achieved with the aid of financial backing from Sheldon Adelson, Charles Koch and his family as well as Rush Limbaugh. All three of them are Conservatives who have made good sums of money through creativity, hard work and faith in the free enterprise system.

The first frontal assault is to defund both PBS and NPR. Taxpayers are tired of funding these pro-commie, pro-muzzie sources that undermine America. Once those two outfits no longer suck at the teat of our fellow countrymen, the assets and capital of both will be available at pennies on the dollar for the three patriots to acquire. Even the initials can stay in place (to tweak liberals) but the branding is far different:

PBS: Patriot Broadcasting System
NPR: National Patriot Radio

The lineup will be 24-hours of Christian and Jewish Conservatism anchored by these Patriotic voices:

What's noteworthy is who will be excluded. Leftists such as Juan Williams, Geraldo Rivera, Dennis Kuchinich and Bob Beckel can be left to their little playground at Fox while the two Patriot networks, on a 24/7 schedule, triumph by articulating the Conservative, Judeo-Christian values that are at the center of the real America.

Back in the 1980's, when Ronald Reagan was president, Jesse Helms spearheaded a movement for Conservatives to band together to buy CBS and fire Dan Rather. Given the current existential crisis, and with the financial prowess of the Conservatives I mentioned, Helms' vision of a network reflecting the values of our Founding Fathers can be a reality. Imagine a steady diet of pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-military news and commentary to counteract the evil anti-American propaganda of the state-run media.

Do not confuse voters facing the confusion between a Muslim or Mormon candidate, with actual faith.

Palin is Christian, and that will hold her in good stead with the church and with Christians.

She is not a Mormon. The confusion of this last election should not be encountered again.

Its "funny" that you say that.....

I have been speculating for a while right here and on Twitter just what it would take to form a "group", pool some bucks and buy enough stock in one of the MSM companies to gain some respect and maybe have some influence on who runs the place, what kind of programming and people they put on the air.

I have a little money that I could contribute, but have no clue how to organize a group....and I have no clue as to how much stock in the company it would take to accomplish some influence over the MSM company.

You know what? The current Republican Party is dominated by mushy moderates who truly cannot stand Conservatives.

They believe that in order to be successful as a Party, they must move more to the Left, a move that has been so successful in the past.

All you need to look at is Presidential election history to see these successes....Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain and the most Moderate (or more accurately, Liberal) Republican Presidential nominee of them all, Mitt Romney.

Even with all these successes, this Republican Party continues down the same path.

Our dilemma is that actual Conservative leaders actually lead and do appeal to the majority of the electorate. But, they are few at present, either afraid to take on the Liberal media or not Conservatives at all.

Gov. Palin is about the only National figure I can think of that continues to be both Conservative and unafraid. We need her and more like her.

The “tribal” identity you speak of is broadly divided around “interest-oriented” identification: Unmarried women (abortion, contraception, child care; equal pay rhetoric etc; GLBT (right of perversion); Hispanics (illegal immigration); Blacks (welfare and affirmative action); Asians (cultural and religious equality: 74% voted for Obama); Moslems (religious equality: “We are not a Christian nation”); SEIU (government and private unions); NEA (teacher funding, seniority, tenure; public school monopoly). These are all key Democratic constituencies backed by the MSM and Hollywood and Silicon Valley billionaires.

This all gets you to 51%. That’s how Obama won despite his disastrous domestic and foreign policy record. This now a permanent majority.

American Jewish voters have a disproportionate influence in our politics..look at NYC...Jews make up, or did at one time, about 4% of the electorate, yet we see a huge domination there with Jewish candidates and their agendas...

and even non Jews pander to them.....its like you couldn't get elected if you didn't please the Jewish voters....

so why?....

"our" minority status...whoever "we" are and whatever our status, we have to establish OUR voting electorate...

we can have a much stronger influence on politics if we realize that Hispanic and black and asian candidates can not be elected without US!

but I'll tell you right now....witnessed here on FR.....we're gigantic idiots and fools because we had a decent candidate and freepers were crucifying him from the get go....

if we can't come together to fight our enemies, then we are lost....

shameful what happened here on FR....

if we continue to divide, then "we" will have no voice at all...

I agree with Rep. Ryan saying you must pick fights you can win or use to educate citizens on government problems, but the GOP must stand rock solid on its core issues.

To endure the GOP has to decide it represents solid, conservative values and stick to these values. The values are: America is a constitutional republic, the elected politicians and government administrators must follow the constitution. The first 10 Amendments recognize our natural rights and limit government’s powers.

Conservatism is a belief in a higher power and natural rights, government is subject to the citizens, not over the citizens. Family is the natural unit and every life is sacred. Citizens are responsible for their own lives, families and must support themselves unless sick or disabled (only then will private charity or government offer a hand). Citizens and business may keep the fruits of their work and taxes are are limited to necessary government (social order, infrastructure, defense, judicial access, administration, agencies exist only for necessary government duties). Capitalism, not socialism, is the way for us to prosper. Government regulation exists to the point necessary to keep markets orderly, provide equal access and to prevent or prosecute fraud. No citizen or business unit is more equal than another, all are equal under the law and in the market place. Taxes and regulations are for revenue or regulation, not social engineering or promoting an agenda beyond the narrow purpose for which enacted.

Services and support from government are for the benefit of citizens and legal residents. Any illegals are here on sufferance only and subject to all laws.

Jewish voters (less than 2% and falling) have almost no impact on our politics. They are almost all crammed into a handful of congressional districts that are overwhelmingly Democrat anyway.

Jewish influence comes from using wealth and persuasive talents, and is amply represented on the right as well as the left.

Jews have switched from business to the professions, meaning fewer large fortunes to expend on influence. The resurgence of Jew-hate means fewer Jewish voices in all kinds of media.

The Golden Age of American Jewry is over. Islam is on the rise.

Excellent and concise analysis. I wonder what the total body count
of each group is? I think it could be estimated. It would be interesting
to put that total number against those who didn't vote, and
then put a demographic to these non-voting cavedwellers, assuming
that number to be close to 50%. In these desperate times, is it
feasible to even consider them potential allies against the Left?

Mitt Romney won independents in the swing states. The problem is not ‘moderate’ voters. They were clearly not happy to vote for Obama and his awful record. The problem was that the base did not turn out. What the Republican party needs to do is build the grand coalition again. Why is it that Netanyahu can build a coalition government from the devout Orthodox Jews, the nationalists, and the capitalists, but we can’t effectively do a similar thing here?

The real problem is the leadership. We have people who do not know how to talk to the constituencies of the GOP, and don’t uphold conservative principles.
It is so simple, yet nobody gets it. The platforms of the Republican Party are eternal. They should not change like the Democrat platforms which fit with whatever the zeitgeist is at the time. That’s the difference between right and left. They do what’s popular, we do what’s right, and convince people of that fact.

If the GOP goes left on social issues like gay marriage and abortion, they will lose so much of the base, they will never win. If the GOP goes left on economic issues, they will lose so much of the base, they will never win. So WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU GO LEFT AT ALL??? The way to win is to be conservative, and SELL conservatism! Mark Levin really said it. “When we got the conservative we wanted, we won two landslide victories!”

We need to talk to people outside the party, obviously, but only to CONVERT them to conservatism, not to pander to their own preconceived ideas and change conservatism to fit them. You want Latino voters? Go to them, show them what the Democrat party did to their last golden voting bloc, threw them into inner city ghettos full of gang violence and cruddy education. You argue for legal immigration, and remind them of all the criminals who made their home country a hellhole, who would come to America illegally and do the same.
Some have suggested we try to increase immigration from Eastern Europe, because of their aversion to communism, and Christian background.
That’s another thing we need to do. Stop being fearful of using Christianity and the values of the Bible to our advantage. Point out how anti-Christian DemoRats really are and denounce any church that does not actually teach Christianity, but a bastardized progressive version of it. We’ve already made headway in converting Catholic leadership to our cause, now we have to work on Catholics themselves. We have to make any Christian that would vote Rat feel guilty. There are a million strategies we can use, and ‘moderation’ as the pundits preach, is not one of them.

The Philippine Islands is a majority Catholic country (and possibly even more Marian than Poland!) with a history of being both an American territory and somewhat Hispanic. They were an American territory for several decades. A young nation of over 94 million people who feel very American, they would not only change our demographics, but give us a fortress against China.

Whoever is going to lead us back to the right path will need the character to start EVERY interview, debate, etc. with something very similar to this statement:

“Barack Obama is in favor of aborting babies in the womb, aborting them partially outside the womb, and committing straight out infanticide by killing them when the baby is 100% outside the womb. Obama will scream and cry that I am slandering him. I welcome a debate anytime with Obama or any supporter and will pulverize them with facts supporting my accusation. This country has gone too far down a very ugly road and it's time for an immediate U-turn. And please hear this loud and clear: There will be NO 24 hour apology!"
