Before He Was Overthrown and Killed...Gaddafi Warned Jihadists Would Conquer N. Africa
The National Post ^ | Friday, January 25, 2013 | Scott Barber

Full headline: Before he was overthrown and killed, Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi warned jihadists would conquer northern Africa

During the dying days of his four decade rule, Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi cast an ominous prophecy. If his regime fell, jihadists would subjugate northern Africa, inflicting widespread violence and terror.

“Al-Qaeda considers all the people to be infidels,” Mr. Gaddafi declared in a speech weeks before NATO began its military intervention in Libya. “They deem all people their enemies. They know nothing but killing.”

The Islamists would pour in from Afghanistan, Algeria, and Egypt, he warned, saying, “These are beasts with turbans.”

Now, with France locked in a battle with extremists in Mali; with al-Qaeda-linked groups carrying out a massive hostage taking in Algeria, and with Britain, Germany, and France telling their citizens to leave Libya because of an unspecified threat, the man many considered mad may not have been so crazy after all.

The irony is, he was right,” said Christian Leuprecht, Royal Military College and Queen’s University political studies associate professor.

“Here we have a situation that’s out of control,” said Abdel Kerim Ousman, Royal Military College political science associate professor. “Gaddafi actually said, if you want to destroy [Libya], the result would be the taking over by the jihadists.”

While Mr. Gaddafi may have been right, many blame the West for not anticipating what would happen after the fall of Libya.

Does Colin Powell quote his 'Pottery Barn' rule on foreign interventions to his endorsee Obama?

Does the media excoriate Obama for not securing Libya's weapons the way they went after President George W. Bush for not securing all of Iraq's weapons?

He called them the “Bearded Ones” and he KNEW what they were up to. We had relative stability in a HUGE region of because of him and others like him.

Now it’s ALL GONE...and nothing good can come of it.

Obama and Clinton have sown misery and chaos wherever their policies have had sway - Libya, Egypt, and Syria are just a few example.

They are angels of death

His enemies in the Benghazi area were the single largest group of jihadis turning up in Iraq.

The Quranic Concept of War

JOSEPH C. MYERS

The universalism of Islam, in its all-embracing creed, is imposed on the be- lievers as a continuous process of warfare, psychological and political, if not strictly military. . . . The Jihad, accordingly, may be stated as a doctrine of a permanent state of war, not continuous fighting.” — Majid Khadduri

I personally think everyone should study the Hamas Covenant which is widely seen as the model “constitution” for a future Caliphate.

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/hamas.asp

Its full of the usual islamic contradictions about peace and tolerance of everyone.......till we kill them.

Obama and Hillary, and their handlers, are making money off the disasters in the Middle East.

“Obama and Hillary, and their handlers, are making money off the disasters in the Middle East.”

With all due respect, does it matter? Hillary and Obama never have work another day in their lives. They can command speaking fees (when out of public office), get book advances, be on TV, etc.

They have money and access to whatever amount they want. We should concentrate more on how the long-term (and even short-term) interests of this country are being destroyed.

If it were only about money I would be happy. It is about regime change that is in no-ones interests but those who would see a Caliphate across North Africa, at first, then Southern Europe and, finally, across all Europe. A Socialist Caliphate at that.

What is so shocking is that Obama and Clinton have done a 180 degree shift in American Foreign Policy without stating any goals or even declaring it. They are enemies of Israel and friends to those who would overthrow any semblance of freedom or democracy in politics and force Sharia Law on us all.

Obama is a perfect storm for this area and has blood on his hands. He committed acts of war against these peoples without the OK of Congress but rather with the OK of the UN, along with the British and French. If Bush had done the same they would have been screaming about war crimes etc but Bambi gets a free ride and they fawn over him like he is the second coming.

One can only draw the conclusion that he is a Muslim and one that is happy to use Sharia to further the goals of Socialist Islam.

...and just why were the sell-out, mentally-insufficient congress critters with no sense of ethics or values praising the Secretary of State during her not-under-oath “testimony”???

"While Mr. Gaddafi may have been right, many blame the West for not anticipating what would happen after the fall of Libya."

The result was anticipated perfectly by Obama and his handlers. This is the perfect outcome for those who want to spread chaos and provide for an Islamic takeover of countries in North Africa and the Middle East. These are the birth pains of the Greater Caliphate. Obama will be hailed as a Muslim who lead the assault on the West.

we probably didn't know who are enemies really are...

in retrospect, even Sadam Hussien..........perhaps he filled a role that westerners can never achieve....

perhaps we need strong armed dictators in these areas just to control the nuts....

same thing in Syria...I personally think bammey is trying to kill off the Syrian regieme so his muslim fanatics can take over....notice how this has been happening all over the Mideast.....

It’s tough to figure out his mind. The only thing that I can think of is simply PURE IDIOCY in these areas. But Bush wasn’t much better...he too thought that the “Ibrahim Lincoln’s” would appear out of nowhere in Iraq was a bit annoying too. The bottom line is that there will be a dictator...simply because the only way to avoid it is to have a public that won’t tolerate it, and that doesn’t happen there.

As far as the president...I would agree except that he keeps droning the bastards in Pakistan and Yemen. He doesn’t seem to have a problem taking them out - but then a bit to the west, he’s installing them in power. That’s why I think they’re simply clueless here.

Well no cheet!

How corrupt is the U.S. government and how stupid are the American people?

Here in the U.S. the government welcomed in tens of hundreds of thousands of Muslims. These sons a bitches were given a free pass into our country. We wined and dined them, trained them to fly large jet aircraft and they turn around and killed thousands of our brothers and sisters while smashing the economy.

Not enough for stupid Americans?

Those in government threw out the red carpet to tens of millions of people to enter the country illegally. As the tax payers stand gawking while they are forced to pay for their housing, food stamps, healthcare, while they choke off our social services, schools, jails you name it...

The U.S. is being led into a ditch.

BTW kristinn, why in tarnation would Bush be concerned with Iraq or Muslims after announcing he was going have a "Compassionate" war with the religion of peace? Compassion for everyone except out troops that is.

Not enough kristinn?

Bush allowed more Muslims into the U.S. after 911, than the previous two decades...All this while welcoming in millions of people from Mexico illegally, all during war time...

How stupid can the American people be kristinn?

One can only draw the conclusion that he is a Muslim ...

The Won is not a Muslim; if he were Muslim, he would have to worship Allah.

The Won worships noone but himself.

He is, however, undoubtedly, by his own words, a Muslim sympathizer.

At least with regard to the Middle East congress critters are playing catch-up. They are operating under an old paradigm which says “Dictator bad” and “anybody opposing dictator good” - I think many supported the overthrow of Qaddafi, Mubarak etc and therefore supported Clinton in this pursuit - including Republicans.

Congress is full of addled old men who either can’t accept that they are wrong and the world has changed in front of them (and left them behind)or they are leftist freaks who have no moral center and will support anything their side does.

Gulf WarI was the stupidest thing we have ever done -- Saddam was a secular dictator -- an evil one, but secular still

And his two enemies were the jihadis/Saudi-sponsored-Wahabbis and the Iranis (he called them "Those Persian flies that must be swatted")

Saddam thought of himself as a latter-day Ashurbanipal who would conquer Iran and rule over the Arabs

The Saudis hated him

If we had let Saddam take Kuwait, then he would have threatened the Saudis, preventing them spending money on arming the Taliban and AlQaeda and getting them to give him money to fight Iran

And yes, he would have restarted the war with Iran, only with a lot more money and he would have killed a lot more Shia fanatics

Instead, by posting troops in Saudia we gave AlQ the pretext (infidels on the "holy land" of Saudia) and the Saudis gave money to set up Wahabbi schools etc...

Gulf War I led to GW II, Afghanistan, 9/11, the radicalization of Pakistan, etc. etc.

This is true, and Iran has become a lot bolder, since they no longer have Sadaam sitting there, just over the fence.
