A Texas teen says a Halloween movie inspired him to shoot his mother and sister to death after watching the main character in the film murder his family with ease and with little remorse.
Jake Evans, 17, wrote a chilling four-page confession for the killing of his mother Jamie Evan, 48, and his younger sister, Mallory, 15.
Jake writes in his confession that after watching Rob Zombies 2007 remake of the horror movie Halloween, he lured his sister out of her room and shot her multiple times. He then killed his mother.
While I loaded the gun back up, I was shouting that I was sorry and then ran fast as I could to kill her. I made sure my mom was dead and shot her again in the head, Evans wrote in a Parker County Police statement. From there, Evans planned to kill his grandparents at their home across the street along with his older sister who was visiting from college.
My plan was to kill my sister and my mom at my house and then go over to my grandparents and kill my oldest sister Emily and my two grandparents, Evans wrote, but he had a change of heart and called 911 instead.
Evans killed his mother and sister with a .22 revolver he stole from his grandfather.
After a while I thought to myself that if I were going to kill my mom and Mallory, I wouldnt want them to feel anything. So I decided to kill them both with the .22 revolver I stole from my Grandpa, he wrote in his confession.
The murders shocked the small community of Aledo, Texas. In a disturbing 20 minute 911 phone call, Evans tells the operator he killed his mom and sister because people are rude to each other and he felt his family was suffocating him.
I dont know, Im pretty, I guess, evil. Whatever, Im sorry, Evans said. I just thought it would be quick, you know? I didnt want them to feel any pain. Thats why I used a gun, but it was like everything went wrong. Prosecutors introduced Evans statement into evidence during a pretrial this week.
He has been charged with capital murder, according to court documents, and is being held without bond.
I do not blme THE film, I blame the “Anything Goes” Hollyweird, pop-cuture, government school society that neuters parental influence and makes movies, TV and video games into advertising for bad behavior.
Michael never used a gun. The dink lied.
“Evans tells the operator he killed his mom and sister because people are ‘rude to each other’ and he felt his family was suffocating him.”
In this case, I actually would prefer he not get the death penalty, but instead life without parole in one of the nastier Texas maximum security prisons.
He will learn a completely new zeitgeist of people being “rude to each other”. And he will probably be dead faster than if they put him on the execution path. Maybe even by suffocation.
Seriously, he was 17 years old. One more birthday and he could have packed up and left. But he actually waited until his sister came home to rack up the body count. I hope the other inmates make his life a living hell before they kill him.
SSRI. The pattern is clear; kill those closest to you, kill the innocent, kill yourself when confronted.

The dink "rewrote" the script...
The call to ban firearms ... thats different.
Not very inspired by Halloween. More like inspired by the Zodiac Killer.
No mention of his father - I wonder why?
It’s California’s fault this Texan killed his sister and mom!
Ban science fiction and horror movies....Video games too!
I don’t believe him.
A movie didn’t have anything to do with what he did. He’s just evil
I agree, the constant filth produced by the entertainment industry, the remorseless killing, the glorification of rude, insensitive, immoral behavior, it all happens with no consequences shown or implied. Children, whose brains are still developing, are immersed in this crap 24/7, on the Internet, video “games”, movies, and peer group behavior, if their parents aren’t constantly on guard. I’m glad I’m not raising children these days.
me too, but I do have nieces and nephews.
Kids going to public schools and watching a lot of TV and movies these days are damaged products.
How long will be waiting for Hollywood’s PSA on Hollywood violence: ‘enough is enough’?
Did the 17 yr. old kid write that? Reads more like a 6th grader, with the spelling mistakes.
IT WAS A FILM, THERE WAS NO MURDER!
What a twisted mind in a seventeen year old who can't tell the difference between an entertainment medium and REALITY. He had been to see his 'alergist' - it needs to be asked, had he been prescribed any mind-altering substance? Many allergies are treated with sedatives.

I have come to believe, as well, that some movies and tv programs have had subliminal messages inserted. I suppose that makes me sound like a conspiracy nut. So be it.
