Albany, NY – Teams made up of members of the New York State Police and Division of Criminal Justice Services to visit communities across the state starting this week. The teams will be available to meet local law enforcement and answer questions from New Yorkers regarding NY SAFE Act.

I notice that they’re also hitting the rural areas (Ithaca itself excluded).
They know they have the cities behind them.
I wouldn’t doubt for a minute that people in Tompkins County own guns. Get outside the cities in Upstate NY and it’s VERY rural with LOTS of hunting.
Tells me the cities they’re visiting are surrounded by LOTS of gun owners. They’re just in the cities as a central location.
I live in CNY and hunting is VERY big around here. Far as I can tell, there are more guns and cows than people.

Why should they. I like the idea that the government enforcers have the same restrictions as the peasants. Not that they'll be enforced for the government's goons of course.

On the other hand, NYC water comes from the Catskills. The water is so good that it is a fair trade.

That's something I often hear. My answer is: There is no true accounting of this, and also - these things will sort themselves out after separation. We in Upstate pay higher taxes to Albany, who then deigns to give it back to us with transfers to their Gov't, education and business cronies in Upstate, and have the gall claim they are subsidizing us. We also suffer through rules, regulations and mandates made for NY City, which add to a high cost of living and doing business in Upstate. It is why jobs and young people are leaving, and most towns and small cities of Upstate look like Appalachia.
If this changed, Upstate NY could achieve a normal, balanced economy.
Also, does anyone count how much the NY State Power Authority (with a board comprised completely of downstate members) subsidizes NY City with cheap hydro-power from Niagara Falls?

For those unfamiliar with New York State government, people signed to ‘initiatives’ or ‘special assignments’ are connected and thereby well vetted...promotion is soon to follow. Ideally, they find their promotion before there is measurable success! Pure ideology.

Will people in grizzly country have to use only pepper spray and pots to defend themselves? I know there are only black bears in NY but just wondering.
The Eastern Shore of Maryland and state Virginia along with Delaware discussed forming Delmarva. Same reason.
There's also packs of coyotes (and no natural predators to keep them under control). A pack of coyotes can take down a large buck, so a lone human at night is considered easy prey (No one walks alone out here without a gun at night).
Right now, they're attacking and eating dogs and cats right out of peoples yards. It won't be long before they start going after human kids.
Good thing for the parents, though. Now, because of the new gun laws, they'll have 6 bullets to kill a dozen coyotes before the kids disappear into the woods. They'd better practice up on their bank shots. They're going to have to kill two coyotes at a time with one bullet - and never miss!
