Great Divide - How Citizens & Cops Are Containing Uncle Sam
Cowboy Confessional ^ | 1/28/2013 | Guy Smith

Posted on 01/28/2013 10:16:30 AM PST by guyshomenet

If you really want to annoy somebody, do their job for them in a very public way.

This is an angle of the growing separation between American localities and the federal government. From general discontent, to increasing non-participation, to open calls for secession, the public in most states have had enough and are actively driving wedges between themselves and Uncle Sam.

When states and local law enforcement join the party, then it is only a matter of time before realignment or divorce becomes reality.

great-divide-gun-controlAfter calling for inept, unworkable and unproductive gun control laws (forgive the redundancy), Barack Obama has met little aside from resistance. The NRA, SAF and GAO instantly announced their opposition. More importantly the citizen media accelerated their unorganized yet fact-based counter campaigns (having spearheaded gun control related citizen media for 13 years, I know Piers Morgan will not invite me to appear on his show – nobody plans their own defeat). Now we see community constabulary preemptively countermanding any new federal ordnance that they find unconstitutional. They are very publicly doing Obama’s job for him, namely upholding the intent of the Bill of Rights.

Well, somebody has to do it. We know Barry won’t.

A few sheriffs in Utah have vowed not to enforce new gun control (and by “few” I mean 28 of 29 sheriffs). The relatively free California county of Mendocino has a sheriff who also is declining to selectively decimate civil liberties. Another local flatfoot in South Carolina has done likewise. Without local law enforcement support, the federal government would have to do their own policing, arrests, jailing, prosecution and imprisonment. Given that the feds only prosecute 0.3% of convicted felons caught by NICS while attempting to buy guns in gun stores, their interest in carrying the law enforcement burden will probably wane.

Then nobody will be publicly doing that job.

This new upbeat rebellion is a continuation from 2008 when the Supreme Court was reconfirming that the Second Amendment was an individual civil right. During deliberation, Montana informed the court that when it entered the union in 1889, they were perfectly clear that the Second Amendment was an individual right, and that should the court decide otherwise, that the statehood pact would be violated and Montana would be free to go their own way (automagic secession if you will). Montana was ready to defend original constitutional intent even if the federal government wasn’t. Now local peace officers are doing likewise.

Uppity states.

This is the source of the next Great Divide. States maintain their power regardless of what Washington thinks, and can deny participation in many, many ways. As Obama pushes to make our bloated Uncle Sam more powerful, states, counties and private citizens are saying “No thanks, we’re keeping control of our destiny.” This sets in motion one or more direct confrontations, which the feds will lose. No matter how large, ornery and disobedient the federal government is, they face resistance from at least half the population, and that number appears to be growing. Any Obama enactment will wither until rational minds once again occupy the White House (hopefully the GOP can find one).

Meanwhile, discounting lunatics outside of congress, a small number of passion crimes and the like, we see nearly all gun woes occurring in America’s larger inner cities. Since the mayors of Chicago, Oakland and L.A. don’t give a damn about poor people (except during elections) their killing fields will continue being populated by children caught in gangland crossfire.

Rahm Emanuel, Antonio Villaraigosa, Jean Quan – you better start doing your job lest we do it for you.

Prediction: Obmso will try to remove Sheriffs and replace them with a “civilian” (my a$$) police force. Two birds with one stone for him. Question that determines fitness for position: “will you fire on citzens that will not relinquish their guns?” If “yes”; welcome to the team. If “no”, place on IRS audit list and “do not hire for federal placement”, and recommend for NSA monitoring.

The difference between the collectivist Left and those who value Liberty is very simple to see.

Most of us in this forum would say, if a Blue state wanted to secede, let them. However, the Leftists would sic the full force of the military on any state that attempted to secede. They would bring tanks, artillery, and aerial bombing.

That is if one assumes that those military people would fire upon fellow citizens. I know for a fact, that over 80 percent would not.

So that leaves us with 20 percent that might.

Either way, a general killing will result. Question is...who will blink first?

The next step is for the states that resist Federal abuse of power to start collecting the Federal income tax and then witholding it if the Fed tries to force its will on that state. If the Fed behaves, then send them their money, elsewise, why finance your oppressor?

In response to your post Obama already said, quite clearly, that he wants a domestic military force that’s just as powerful as the regular military. I’m thinking that it’s this bunch of Brown Shirts who will be the ones tasked with killing off the local authorities who defy King Obozo and then they’ll take over local law enforcement in rebellious areas.

Should Obama give such an order, there would be instantaneous mutiny within the ranks of our armed forces. Perhaps as many as a third of military personnel would be willing to follow such a blatantly tyrannical, unconstitutional order, but most would not.

The patriot majority within the US military would quickly arrest, detain, and even execute those who were intent upon firing upon their own countrymen, quickly followed by the arrest and imprisonment of all those in the chain of command (elected civilians included) who had anything to do with it.

Such an order would spell doom for the treasonous left in this country. The People are just barely containing themselves now. Directing military force against the civilian population of a secessionist state would ignite the second American Revolution, which the feds would lose.

This isn't 1861. There will be no move to stop any state from seceding through force.

Don’t forget tactical nukes...it was a Democrat after all that dropped A bombs on Japan!

“That is if one assumes that those military people would fire upon fellow citizens. I know for a fact, that over 80 percent would not.”

I sense you’re wrong about that.

We’ll have to wait and see.

I believe we’re going to find out before too much longer...

Don’t mince words — you’re talking “military coup” here.

I sense the Obmmunists are worried about this, as well. Is it any coincidence that we’re seeing so many high-ranking military officers “retired”? Any coincidence about the rumored “loyalty oaths” (i.e., “would you fire on Americans if so ordered?”)?

Waco already is in the history books. What makes you so certain that we won’t see this repeated — perhaps numerous times in the future?

During the Clinton years, a survey was taken of enlisted and non-comms. One question directly asked if they would engage against citizens, and about 80% said ‘no’.

Assuming such, the military splits and some states take control of various camps (along with the weapons, jets, etc). Horrible scenario, but a likely outcome if the survey results hold true today.

I know for a fact that I am NOT wrong. Having several family members who are in the military, and they having been talking to fellow military friends. ALL of them said they will either lay down arms OR turn the weapons around, pointing them the other way. So, I would give it 80% that will not fight against fellow citizens.

The Waco incident was the federal leviathan against one small and isolated group of adults and children. Let them try that on the whole city of Waco and see what happens. They'd be decimated by the massive retaliatory force they'd meet.

Now multiply that over hundreds of cities and towns across the country (or even one specific region) and you can see the application of federal armed force against the civilian population is a ridiculous notion, and something they'll never try.

If the states can do without Federal money they can pull it off. If not, then not.

The traditional military will likely not be put in that position. The reliables among the officers may lead such an attack but it will be with FEMA troops, mostly recruited from the barrios and the ghettos. They will happily to shoot anyone.

And, while there were some military at Waco, Timothy Mc Veigh was also a recently discharged soldier if memory serves me correctly, and his motive to blow up the fed. building was the Waco massacre.
Texas will have 98% of Fort Hood on the Patriots side!

Yep. Point of fact, Texas is too deep a shade of patriot red for the fed jackboots to try anything here. If such a day should come, it will happen in one of the purple states. That's where all the action will be.

It will be a bath. They will be pinned down in the cities...right where one would want them to be pinned down.
