It’s one thing to like or love animals. I love animals. People with pets live longer. But animals aren’t people, they shouldn’t be valued more than people. Anthropomorphizing animals leads to behavioral problems (in the pet), because they are animals, not people. I also do not discount the work of therapy dogs. But there is a line that seems to be increasingly crossed as the pro-animal (and often anti-people) voice gets louder.
Good points....you are so right that people need to remember that animals are animals and relate to them on “their” ability to related to us.
Animals—pets—need to be well behaved, socialized and NOT a detriment to others (humans or other pets). “therapy “dogs are wonderful and I resent people taking advantage of their ability to go almost anywhere by saying that their “pet” is a therapy animal.
