Papa John’s pizza firm implores bloggers: Stop the misquotes
The Washington Times ^ | January 29, 2013 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Papa John’s pizza has been hounded by the media for comments supposedly made in response to Obamacare — that food prices were on the rise, that franchises would face closure due to escalating health care costs, that workers’ hours and positions would be sliced.

Only problem: The comments, attributed to CEO John Schnatter, were never made. That’s according to a Politico report about the efforts of Papa John public relations firm Sitrick and Co. to track down bloggers who’ve covered the supposed comments and ask for edits.

There was a time when Papa John’s pizza was quite good. Then they had to cut corners to stay in the same price point as Domino’s and Pizza Hut.

But of course they don’t taste like the cardboard and tomato sauce pizza you get at Little Ceaser’s.

I have eaten Domino’s pizza maybe three or four times. Never had either of the other two.

John Schnatter also said:

“When I go out for pizza I sure as hell don’t eat at Papa John’s!”

I agree but I seem to be in the minority as all my friends love Papa John's, to me the crust is way to chewy with almost the consistency of shoe leather and the sauce...just doesn't taste like pizza sauce, the pepper taste overwhelms everything else (don't even try to taste a tomato or oregano). I would MUCH rather prefer a Little Caesars pizza (and that isn't saying much) heck I would probably prefer a store bought frozen pizza

Papa John’s sauce is to sweet, don’t care for it. As far as I am concerned the best mass produced pizza for the price is at Costco, only problem no delivery. Have you ever tried to order Papa Johns on line?, not user friendly.

We gave up on store bought prepared pizzas (such as Papa John’s, Dominoes, etc.) a long time ago. We buy plain cheese pizzas from the commissary or grocery store and “redo” them to our liking. With the cost of the pizza and the added tailored ingredients, they cost about $4 - $5 and are a hell of a lot better.

Additionally, Papa Johns and all of the rest of the pizza hustlers will be increasing their costs because of Obamacare ... maybe not specifically identifying the cost per se, but they will be increasing the cost and you, the customer, will be eating it, not Papa John.

“Sitrick and Co. chair Mike Sitrick said Mr. Schnatter did not claim that stores would close due to Obamacare costs, and that while he did admit during an investor telephone call that food prices could increase, he also explained the company sold enough pizzas to absorb health care costs.”

The term “absorb” (above) is a code term to those that understand business. Business NEVER ‘absorbs’ new costs - they pass it on. Typically, and no doubt in this case, they will have to raise their prices somewhat (or cut back on their product...same thing). So what happens? Less sales, hence the need for less workers and less stores.

That is how business works. Liberal leaders know that FULL WELL, but still hate the idea of independent businesses.
