If there are truthers and birthers, should there now be a new term for those who are doubting President Obama’s claim that he goes skeet shooting “all the time”? And should that term be “skeeters”? If so, count CNN’s rising young star Erin Burnett among the gadflies.
During a segment on Monday night, Burnett took over two minutes to dissect the president’s shooting claim — and she found it wanting.
“Obama the skeet shooter,” she began. “Yeah, I’m not making this up. I mean, if someone is, it isn’t me.”
She then played the clip of CNN’s Jessica Yellin confronting Press Secretary Jay Carney on the comments, repeatedly asking if a picture of the activity existed and why no one had ever heard of him doing it before.
Burnett then turned to a panel where she said there’s “skepticism” among conservatives and non-conservatives about the president’s claim.
“So, now you’re going to say you do it all the time, don’t you have to kind of prove it?” she asked.
Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher wasn’t impressed: “Such speculation is to be expected from a deranged partisan, but not from a journalist. She owes him an apology.”

I am starting to feel like I’m in Moscow in say 1933. So officially ‘good’ journalists now avoid asking questions.

I had to look it up a couple of days ago when I first saw the story about Obama ‘skeet’ shooting. Now I can’t stop laughing every time I hear someone talking about it. A congresswoman from TN has challenged him to a match (with a gun) ..... aside from the fact that I don’t think he’s ever picked up a shotgun, he’s too much a wimpy wuss to take her up on it, I’m sure.
Agreed... and asked - where and what type of rifle he uses, and where he bought it, when did he start shooting, etc. Details that anyone else who shoots could easily answer. I would have liked to see Obama squirm trying to answer those questions. And...surely, if he is a skeet shooter, someone else would know where he goes to shoot. I mean, I doubt it is on the White House lawn behing Michelle's veggie garden! But the press never calls his bluff(s).

It is literally impossible for a grown man to NOT look like a dork while wearing a bicycle helmet. I’ve never worn one in my life, and if I did I’d want a full-face model because I wouldn’t want anyone who knows me to know it’s me.
Watch for her to be quietly fired in about 3 weeks.
There are no pics because no photog would want to be within 200 yds with the President holding a gun, swinging it all around.
So, once again, Obama will have to give up something that he loved doing because far-right nutwing journalists hounded him for it.

I was a regular 22-24 shooter with a 12 gauge. Ever shot Skeet with a 410? Talk about frustrating! If I was lucky, I’d get 14 or 15!
It's been many decades since I've shot skeet. (In fact, it may have been trap or sporting clays rather than skeet. Sorry, I'm not entirely clear on the differences.) I was in the Boy Scouts (a skinny 12 or 13-year-old) at the time and, wow, was my shoulder ever sore that day.
Hey, I used the word 'skeeter' first. :(
