The almost universal call from many RINOs, Dimocrats, media pundits, and lesser pols have called for more thorough background checks. This seems to be the one "feel good" legislation which will be enacted. For all this ranting about background checks, not one pundit or pol has offered any logical reason how such thorough background checks will stem the flow of violence. Gang memebers do not get their guns thorough FFL dealers. How many of the 500+ killings were done last year by individuals who acquired their firearms after going through a background check?

God forbid. This is my one nightmare out of this latest Jihad. Total background checks are the liberals' wet dream. Once that is in place, all we need is for the government to declare a "National Emergency" (real or bogus) and shut down the computers for "the public safety". Ergo, NO ONE can legally get a gun.

All too often, especially on gun show weekends, their computers "have a glitch" or go down "for maintenance" and block sales by dealers. Sure, they are supposed to be sold without a check after a few days but that is bad news when you need a gun NOW. I remember during the Los Angeles riots when firearms sales were banned and those naive people who thought the police would protect them were hung out and left to dry.
