The fundamental problem in Egypt is the lack of sustainable domestic agriculture and calorie production in a rapidly growing population. The Muslim Brotherhood are failing due to their lack of flour subsidies, almost everything else flows from the hungry bellies of the masses.

The rate of population growth is slowing. North America and Europe are barely at replacement rate.

Most of the water we use in the USA is not for agriculture, it is for industrial - electrical generation mostly and then thermal process heat.
