A $40 million engineering structure belonging to Iran's South Pars gas field, which was to be used in offshore platforms, sank into the Gulf as it was being installed, media said on Wednesday, as reported by AFP.
The equipment was built by Maritime Industrial Company (SADRA), an affiliate of the industrial wing of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, over a 30-month period."
An investigation is under way," SADRA's managing director Mehdi Etesami told the ISNA news agency, without elaborating.
The incident occurred Monday night as the 1,850-tonne jacket developed for South Pars Phase 13 sank to a depth of 80 meters (264 feet), media reports said, adding that there were no reports of any casualties.
As a result its links to the Guards, SADRA is subject to sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States over the Iranian regimes nuclear program.
Along with other industrial subsidiaries of Guards engineering wing the Khatam al-Anbiya group, SADRA was awarded a $5-billion contract in 2010 to develop Phase 13 after Western energy majors withdrew over the sanctions.
Tehran considers the development of the South Pars field, which is jointly owned by Qatar, to be a strategic priority.

All’swell that ends well.....
I would guess that they could answer the question “Did you build that yourself?” in the affirmative.
Guess it’s salvage operation time, or they’re going to have one heck of a nice barrier reef!
It is either the Jew’s or Bush’s fault...
Mosad sent a posse of sharks to scuttle it.
D’OH!
How many Iranian Revolutionary Guards became Shark Bait?
Thirty months to build and only minutes to sink.
I predict heads are gonna roll over this one. Literally!
And you would think we would have video of that. I would certainly make for a pop corn eat in’ good time!
Those boys should have been doing their homework instead of hitting the clubs when they were studying at US universities...
Shiite’s been happening to them a lot these days. Sabotage? Only Allah knows and he’s been mum.
SANDRA vowed to use more FLEX SEAL in their next building project.

Nah, homework's for infidels...
“Assessments show that the sunken jacket has not been damaged seriously and can be recovered at good speed,” Qalebani told FNA in the Southern port city of Assalouyeh on Wednesday.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker sent Team America to put a hurt on South Pars.
Right, it was the “floppy seabed”.
Somebody blows up Fordow. Israel attacks chemical weapons depot and convoy in Syrian. Now this rig sinks.
Is there a war on or is Israel just trying to shape the battle space for now?
Acmed, did you put the drain plug in?
Darn, I wonder how that could have happened?!
Darn, they really seem to be having a run of bad luck lately.
The Gang of Unexpected strikes again!!!
Probably sharks with fricken lazer beams on their heads!

Sabatoge rumors aside, this may also have been the result of the design done by those considered “politically reliable” rather than technically competent.
It’s like there’s a little black cloud hanging over their heads.
Thanks for that post! I was hoping it would appear, after I read the article, and I’m not disappointed.
They didn’t happen to get a green loan from Obama’s Dept of Energy did they?
Great observation! I think it plausible that the sh!t is hitting the fan and we are being fed luke warm BS like frogs in a pot that’s getting hotter.
And not just on this subject.
Thanks. Notice the MSM isn’t really reporting the attacks and the sinking. They are really trying to discredit the Fordow story. WND is out there almost alone on that one.
Is ozero’s epa going to fine every day it is underwater?
There’s always a war on. Leonard Cohen even said so:
“There’s a war between the ones who say that there’s a war
And the ones who say there isn’t.”
But this is just shaping space, as you say. When I hear the sounds of distant explosions coming up through the ground, as I have once or twice when they were bombarding Ber Sheva, for several days running, then I’ll know that it’s begun.
$40 million doesn’t sound like much money.
A quick search found that BP’s HORIZON PLATFORM (with the blowout) was built in 2001 for a cost of $350 million, with an estimate of $700 million upwards to rebuild today.
Sounds like the Iranians put a 20,000 pound water well on a pontoon boat rated for 12 people.

These third world cretins don’t know how to waste money, unless it’s foreign aid.
Nasri: “Achmed, is the plug in?”
Achmed: “What plug?”
Oh, man, I posted #44 before I saw your Achmed post.
GMTA.

What do you mean it sank? I did not give it authorization to sink.
