Hoffa Statement On The Decline In U.S. Gross Domestic Product
digitaljournal.com ^ | January 30, 2013

WASHINGTON, Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is an official statement from Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa:

"Today we learned that the U.S. economy is shrinking due to a fall in government spending. That should tell us that government austerity is not just wrong, it's bad economic policy.

"The Bureau of Economic Affairs' announcement that GDP fell by 0.1 percent reinforces our message that we need jobs, not cuts – especially to Social Security, Medicare and education.

"Teamsters around the country are participating in actions today to demand that big corporations and the richest 2 percent pay their fair share of taxes. I hope extremists in Congress pay attention to their message that Americans need jobs, not cuts.

"Another reason for the decline in GDP is a fall in U.S. exports, the legacy of NAFTA, CAFTA and PNTR. I hope Congress finally wakes up to the destruction caused by these job-killing trade deals."

All I can say is, we have less than four years to turn this around for the GOP.

Rather than make jokes, how about some ideas for jobs in America?

James Riddle Hoffa was probably a crook but he was one tough little character. I read the Mafia called him “The Little Hammer” I forgot how they say it in Italian.

I would much rather deal with him than his son.

...how about some ideas for jobs in America?

Your puzzling request for "some ideas for jobs in America" sounds whiny. (And please don't tell me you expect scumbag government to produce "jobs".)

You've been here long enough to (hopefully) have learned that the answer is to get government out of Americans' faces, out their wallets, and out of their way, and let the market economy take care of producing "jobs". In other words, do exactly the opposite of what this selfish, scumbag Democrat union hack Hoffa says to do.

Hoffa is a 1%er who sucks money from working people like a tick sucks blood from its host. Of course he likes government confiscating money from productive people, he does the same thing to union members. Only a moron thinks that government spending can grow and sustain our economy. Hoffa doesn’t care about working people. If he did he wouldn’t support democrats who are destroying jobs, the economy and our freedom.

We do not need 100% US jobs if they are Union jobs.

It is that simple. I will not subsidized Organized Crime with dues. I will not buy a product made in a factory where Organized Crime has the workforce unionized.

I’d rather buy something made in a Chinese slave labor camp because the workers in those type factories have more chance of improving their surroundings than a factory with a Unionized workforce.

The Unions in the US are simply evil. They are actually criminal organizations and the leaders should be placed in solitary confinement

“Rather than make jokes, how about some ideas for jobs in America?”

If the lottery announced today that the prize for this weeks jackpot was $500 million dollars, there would be a surge in ticket sales, because the potential payoff fuels people's willingness to take a risk with their money.

To fuel economic growth, it helps a lot to have an environment in which people feel that as a result of their investment of work, capital, and/or time they have the chance for a big payoff. Obamanomics (i.e. socialism) seeks to move toward an economy of assured equal outcome, irrespective of effort, investment, risk-taking etc. If the payoff is the same, whether you buy a lotto ticket or not, you're probably not going to bother buying a ticket.

I agree with you in part. I am not for union jobs.

I also am not for sending US money to support communism in China.

Luckily the proportion of US jobs which are union, is the lowest ever.

So this is not a deal breaker.

Bring back US jobs.

You’re in dire need of a lesson in economics.

Jobs aren’t created because people “need” them, they are created because investors hire folks so they can make a profit using their labor.

“Today we learned that the U.S. economy is shrinking due to a fall in government spending. That should tell us that government austerity is not just wrong, it’s bad economic policy.”

This is a perfect example of why I assume every liberal I meet is a moron, a thief, or both.

Thank you for your recommendation.

I am currently choosing either to learn about economics, so that just like every economist in the world I will have absolutely no employable skills except on liberal television networks (and likewise some government),

or else America brings jobs back to America - increasing our nation’s savings, and paying for things here.

One of those two. I can’t really decide which is more useful.

... government austerity is not just wrong, it's bad economic policy.

What planet is this tin foil hat idiot from? Austerity?! Obozo has rolled through more money in less time than any president in history. Someone please tell Mr. Hoffa that the poor economic performance is due to gov't spending in the wrong places and taxing those who do create jobs. Also, drumming up class warfare against the rich doesn't help either. How many people do you know were hired by a poor person. Mr. Hoffa, you're an idiot.
