Political Power Needs to Be Used
NY Times ^ | 01/30/2013

Posted on 01/31/2013 5:07:12 AM PST by Phlap

If ever there were a moment for Democrats to press their political advantage, this is it. Their message on many of the biggest national issues — taxes, guns, education spending, financial regulation — has widespread support, and they have increased their numbers in both houses of Congress. But after years of being out-yelled by strident right-wing ideologues, too many in the Democratic Party still have a case of nerves, afraid of bold action and forthright principles.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: New York
KEYWORDS: guncontrol; republicants; secondamendment
The reason was fear: Fear that they mightwill return to the minority one day, fear that a weakened filibuster might hurt them, fear that Republicans might change the rules to the disadvantage of Democrats ifwhen they regain a majority.

fear that Republicans might change the rules

It's ALWAYS the democRATS that try to change the rules in the middle of the game. From defining what a chad is & giving themselves more time to count votes in the 2000 election. To, now, wanting to redefine a "new" Bill of Rights'. How I LOATHE the left.

Who actually believes this crap?

These people up insanity by a notch or several every single day. There must be a word beyond insanity to describe this. Insanity seems so mild compared to what this is and what they do.

By any other name the NYTimes is calling for tyranny. They can press their advantage, but the NYTimes had better support House Republicans because THEY have the majority and whatever they demand should go as well, right?

Yeah, right. The corrupt MSM-Democrat Party machine needs to be dismantled.

Sure, go ahead and use it just like you did on Obamacare. And what do we get from Democrats besides higher taxes, more control of our lives (liberties lost), and politicians robbing the people? The NY Times just wants more tax revenue in the coffers to buy votes and be distributed to bankrupt Blue States. I really believe if they were to push hard at this time, especially against gun rights, it would split the country beyond repair.

I must compliment Obama and his handlers on this issue.

He (they) are quite skilled at the use of raw power to accomplish their objectives.

Unfortunately for the Democraps, the Republican Party has a brain and sees right through their crap though, for some reason, they think everyone else believes them. I think as time goes on and times get worse and everyone experience the consequences of Obama’s bad decisions they will begin to realize he’s not Preident to help them but only for himself especially when they get their Obamacare and higher tax bills nect year and the economy goes down the toilet even further.

I think Obama just created the illusion that so many people support him. I think the actual numbers are far lower. Wasn’t it Alinksky that said power is what they think you have? Obama is just a modern day Wizard of Oz. Time or Dorothy to visit the Emerald City and set the big curtain on fire...lol

Remember, this is the same NYT whose reporters ran deep cover for both Stalin and Castro, while they were purging and murdering their political enemies.

Evil.

Collectivists and statists of all types follow only one god, Satan himself.

They won’t believe it, but it certainly explains how they can look truth in the eye and deny it with confidence.

Hunters in red states know full well that a semiautomatic weapon bristling with military features is unnecessary to bring down a deer or a duck. If Senator Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, who just won re-election comfortably, were to make that case, he might change a few minds

What liars. It's not about a deer or duck and they know that full well. So does Manchin which is why he won't say what this idiot wants him to say.
