Is Fox News really different?
WND.com ^ | January 29, 2013 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 01/31/2013 7:11:03 AM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

For many Americans, Fox News is their “alternative” choice for news.

They’ve made it the No. 1 cable news network, largely because they believe its “fair and balanced” promotional slogan.

Many even believe Fox leans to the right and provides news they can’t get anywhere else.

But is Fox really different from the rest of the media? Or has it been successful merely at positioning itself as different?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, gave nearly six times as much money to Barack Obama than Mitt Romney in the 2011-2012 election cycle?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp. gave more to Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., than to Mitt Romney?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp. gave more to Ben Cardin, Democrat from Maryland, than to Mitt Romney?

Would it surprise you to know that News Corp. gave more than twice as much to Democratic candidates in 2012 than to Republicans?

Would it surprise you that this pattern was about the same in 2010 and 2008?

Would it surprise you to know that News Corp. gave far more money to Democrats running for both the House and Senate in 2012 than to Republicans?

Do the owners and top managers of Fox News and News Corp. not have the right to support any candidates they want to support?

Of course they do.

But the American people have a right to know where the hearts and minds and pocketbooks of their trusted news sources really are – especially when it comes to politics.

Fox News has certainly learned there is a vast public audience whose values and worldviews are unserved by the major media. That’s the secret to its success.

Fox News Ratings Hit 12-year Low
Wednesday, January 30, 2013 09:49 PM

By: Matthew Auerbach

Fox News had its worst prime time ratings in January in the coveted 25-54 demographic since August 2001, a 12-year low, and its lowest total day ratings since June 2008, Politico reports.

The year started off badly for Fox’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” in particular, which suffered its worst month ever among the 25-54 demo. January also saw the channel’s lowest total viewership in the 10 p.m. hour since July 2008.

The numbers weren’t all bad. Fox still had nine out of the top 10 shows for the month. The only program to crack Fox’ total dominance was MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” which came in at the 10th spot.

Haven’t watched Faux News in a great many years. I’m tired of BOR and Hannity. I have no appetite for the wiles of northeastern RINOs.

No. It’s just as horrible as all the rest. I refuse to watch “news entertainment” regardless of it’s political philosophy.

I don’t watch it. It’s obsessed with pretty faces and heated exchanges of controversy. Occasionally it puts the fluff aside and covers an item that the other networks will not touch. I don’t need it. I get the latest from FR.

In recent months fox has devoted entirely too much time on trash journalism so I don’t watch much anymore. Tired of hearing about spoiled sports stars like armstrong, tibow and the new guy that had a girl friend that did not exist.. What a load of .....

I dumped TV in 1997. When I’m exposed to Fox news, I see it as a liberal news source with some conservative trappings. When I argue on the internets with liberals and they accuse me of being a FOX drone, I mention the above and it REALLY pi$$es them off.

Those of us that get our news of the web see ALL televised news as liberal, but some lean more to the left than others. Heck, I listen to NPR strictly for laughs. And it is comically far left.

Not much surprises me about Fox News, any more.

They are slowly but surely surrendering their territory they once had staked out, not because of encroachments as the leftist media move their direction, but as they simply abandon their previous positions on the right.

Not to say that Fox News is anything like, but as an analogy, Playboy magazine was once considered the most risque publication out there. But as Hugh Hefner got older, and the power behind the publication shifted, it has become almost mainstream. The same centripedal forces that pulled Playboy back to the “moderate” view, have been operating on Fox News.

Now we have to rely on Glen Beck and Blaze.com.

I think a lot of conservatives that watch fox regularly are realizing that they are liberal. And as the internet meets their news needs more and more, they are leaving fox.

I do watch Fox News. Conservative ideas do get a hearing there and no place else in the news world.

Despite who the employees supported, I do get to hear from conservative leaders. (And too many Rinos, but that’s the price. On other networks I don’t hear from conservative leaders at all.)

Once Fox became the top “news source”, News Corp decided it to make Fox News the top “entertainment source that presents topical information”.

AKA: Fox views itself as “entertainment” and not a news source.

I watch Morning Joe for the exact same reason!

Fox News. It’s the New York Post in video form. Right of Center, but dumbed down and Left of most FReepers.

I put it on in the morning for about an hour during breakfast but take it with more than a grain of salt. Then get my news here and an hour or 2 of Limbaugh at noon.

Given that Mitt Romney was, politically, Obama’s clone... why should they have given more to Romney?

Have not watched any network news for years.

Drudge, FR, Instapundet, etc. provide me with my news input.

And - they are always faster, more correct, and have more depth than anything on TV.

My reply to anyone who attempts to debate issues and has received their info only from the MSM is to succinctly state that they are essentially uninformed and that they should go back and do their homework before taking the test.

It wasn’t the technology.

It was the vapidity of those on the screen.

I turned off TV news after election night. Two days ago I was at a friends house where Fox was on in the morning and one of their blondes was raving on about guns killing another person somewhere.

I can't take Hannity in any form.
O'Reilly seems to be admire Obama from what I read.
Greta was a big lib back in her OJ trial days, what made her seem conservative?
