The U.S. Senate Thursday defeated an amendment that aimed to prevent the Obama administration from transferring F-16 fighter aircraft and Abrams tanks to an Egypt in disarray.
A vote to block the measure proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)an amendment to the debt limit billpassed by a 7919 vote.
In a strong-worded floor statement Paul questioned the wisdom of providing the sophisticated weaponry at a time when many see Egypt descending into chaos.
I think this is particularly unwise since Egypt is currently governed by a religious zealot, a religious zealot who said recently that Jews were bloodsuckers and descendants of apes and pigs, he said. This doesnt sound like the kind of stable personality that we would be sending our most sophisticated weapons to.

“Sales” is kind of a subjective term in situations like this.
As I understand it the sale involves us giving them the money to give to someone else and we give them the jets (and our money).
This is on the shoulders of the manufacturers as well.
They, themselves, should protest. They could stop the physical transfer of the materials from their property, but I’m not holding my breath.
Everyday, our Government gives us a new reason to question their competency.
....clearly, our Congress is bought and sold.
Our senate is slime.
Period.
So this is a roundabout way of subsidizing the Military-Industrial complex and giving Egypt jets that they can’t really use. Big surprise.
I heard career politician Senator Sessions on the radio today say this was a tough vote because we have long standing arrangements. Anyone with a brain knows giving the Egyptians 200 tanks and 50 planes will only be used to kill Israelis. Shame Sessions Shame. Retire and go home. Boo...get off the stage.
Maybe they should just add an EXTRA circuit to these tanks and fighters that might ACCIDENTALLY cause the electronics to fuse into a smoking lump at the most inopportune time.
By the way he sounded like a clueless bastard living in his own bubble. We have a serious problem for those who aren’t paying attention.
You're right. Are our people nuts?
Chicken Shiite senate. They must go, and I don’t mean via election, because we know that doesn’t work.
Long standing arrangements agreed to by that idiot Jimmy Carter. And the government he agreed with is no longer standing.
And those arrangements never committed us to supplying them with planes and tanks and the like, unless we saw fit.
These guys are a bunch of corrupt pork-grubbers. I suppose they figure if they vote against it, Obama the Muslim will give them less pork.
I do not think I will waste my time on writing him in the future. I am going to be too busy packing my bags for TX.
Toomey always was a phony. Rhode Island liberal and Harvard graduate. How the Tea Party was suckered by him, I can’t figure out.
We are not selling them the latest and greatest versions of this stuff and we can cut off parts supply’s at any time.
The Israelis would kill them if they got bold.
Paul redeemed himself partially after his disappointing Kerry vote, but Cruz is the man now.
I wonder how many of the 79 are Jews willing to sell out Israel for their 30 pieces of silver.
Am I still in the right country? In the United States, giving arms to the enemy is considered treason.
So now Rand Paul owes Reid one for letting his amendment get voted on...
That’s not good. Maybe it’ll be worth it but I doubt it.
79 votes to arm our avowed enemies (who, not incidentally, bomb Christian churches and beat up Christians in the streets). 79 votes!!! May God bless and save America
Exactly, and, the Egyptian army will need the stuff when they have to roll over the bloodthirsty muzzie mobs, and eventually, Morsi and his jihadist regime.
Take a look at the roll call vote and remind each of the numerous RINOs that voted for it that they WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!
Does anyone have roll-call?
I’m looking to see how Dan Coats (R-IN) voted.
TIA.

Thank you Senators.
Egypt’s army will never go against Morsi.
Jeez Louise!! Mike Johanns was wrong AGAIN!!!
This guy hasn’t made a decent vote in the last 2 years. We have GOT to get rid of him!
or it could be Turkey again and the military will be the Brotherhood scum.
American and Israeli soldiers will die at some time in the future from these airplanes.
The politicians won’t give a damn.
And the Obama voters won’t give a damn.

I’m keeping score
The two latter groups will have to stand before God and answer for all of that. May not be soon enough to suit us, but when the time comes, we’ll see lots of sweat dripping off those multitudes . . .
There is no silver. Some don’t recognize Egypt as a threat, imagining taht the Muslim Brotherhood is moderate or some such. Others think that the aid is necessary to keep the Egyptian military on our side.
Which J school teaches the use of double negatives in headlines?
When it comes to Egypt & the Muslim Brotherhood, I’m a moderate.
Nuke the Aswan High Dam! Time for the world’s biggest ever toilet flush!
So, these are the Jewish Senators that turned their backs on Israel in favor of Egyptian Terrorists.
Carl Levin
Frank Lautenberg
Dianne Feinstein
Barbara Boxer
Ron Wyden
Benjamin Cardin
Bernard Sanders
Al Franken
Richard Blumenthal
Brian Schatz
The “yes” GOP votes are?
Yep, figured my butt-boy Senators from TN, Lamar! and Corker, would vote with the enemy.
To #35: out of these Jewish senators, we have:
* one marxist, avowed socialist, but a RED - Sanders
* one liar, Vietnam vet fraud, Blumenthal
* one clown, Franken
* one fool who was used by the KGB in 1975 to welcome a KGB front delegation made up of top Soviet bloc communists and KGB agents of influence - Carl Levin, re World Peace Council tour, including getting the keys to Detroit
* one old fool - Lautenberg
* one stupid fool - Feinstein but slick on gun control
* one troll midget brain, Boxer (and crazy as a loon)
* veteran leftists (with repeats), Wyden, Sanders, Franken, Blumenthal, Levin, Boxer, Sanders
* One fool liberal - Ben Cardin (from my old hood)
* one new leftist fool - Schatz
As a Jew, I cannot be proud of any of them. Cardin should have known better. If his mother is still alive, she’s gonna beat his ass good on this vote. If his father is still alive, he’ll sentence him to life in jail (a former judge). (I think they have passed away but they were proud liberals who supported Israel as an ally and homeland for dispossed Jewsish refugees from around the world).
Ol Texas Cornyman running scared, knowin’ you are going to get primaried will change your WHOLE outlook on life and voting.
Good job Cruz....making us proud in Texas....keep hammering these a$$hats.
The rest of you YES voters nothing but “teaser” bulls all running around humping and humping the air with your tool sewed to the side of your belly, just getting tired.
Not the A+ bulls that are doing the real breeding in the pasture.
Bought time to turn the “non-producers” into jerky or hamburger meat.
We should toss in some bombers and nukes to go along with them.
Only 19. Hard to swallow.
* one stupid fool - Feinstein but slick on gun control
* one troll midget brain, Boxer (and crazy as a loon)
.”.. Open up your Golden Gate!” Sigh
Paul bolten yesterday explained the why.
First and most important, the palnes will be in the hands of the military. The military is not the Brotherhood.
Secondly, the planes are a continuance of the Oslo accords.
Bolton is saying what most here can’t see....... the military is not the brotherhood. There is not a monolithic population of Islamists. The current demonstrations clearly show that fact.
The moneyed interests and the military will ultimately previl.
Follow the money. The US is not buying anymore tanks right now. Without this contract to send tanks to Egypt, the Abrams Tank Plant in Lima (OH) would virtually shut down. As well as all of their suppliers. If the Lima tank plant and all of their suppliers went out of business then the US would loose this industrial base. Maybe forever. It would be very, very expensive to rebuild it. And don’t forget, Egypt will buy tanks even if they have to buy Russian tanks.
” - - - The yes GOP votes are? - - - “
These are the go-along-to-get-along, scratch-my-back, bipartisan cave-in RINOs.
Round One in the 2016 GOP Presidential Nomination Race has begun.
Yup. The always gullible, spineless RINOs are determined to be more like the Democrats so that the Communist Liberal Agenda Media, (CLAM), will like them.
So the Obama administration is hard at work 1) disarming “free” American citizens of small arms, and 2) sending F-16s and Abrams tanks to Egypt, which is ruled by Muslim terrorists.
Makes perfect sense! /s
People still believe this lie, dont they. The military demonstrated that they are strictly on the side of the Brotherhood by helping them to come to power in the first place. A military not in cahoots with the MB (rather than acting as an appendage of the MB as they do today) would not have allowed their top generals to be replaced by Morsi either. Yet people will still believe this lie even with Captain Obvious hitting them with an uppercut.
The military is not the Brotherhood
They really want the leftist media to like them, even though they are that media’s permanent Emmanuel Goldstein?
