Actually an attempted rape did occur. Brawley tried to rape Steve Pagones using the legal system, but was caught. In a just world she would have done time in prison, as well as her legal council.

She was 15 years old. What judge is going to order a fifteen year old to pay this. Youthful offender applies here. I know she is an adult now, but she wasn't then. The girl was dumb. She stayed out all night with her boyfriend, and made up a crazy story to tell her Mother and Step-dad who she was afraid of. They saw money to be made in it.
