Morning! Is everybody as happy that it’s Friday as I am?
I'm happy Hillary is "retiring" today.
WHOA! Just heard on WTAE Primanti's in the strip closed! That was the original location. It's being consolidated with the outlet in Market Square.
In my opinion the new outlets are nothing like the original. In fact the original slipped decades ago when they went from being a "guy" kinda place open only overnight to a more family oriented place.
Wow..Ed Koch dead!
Primanti’s in the strip closed! I don’t think that will be a popular decision. I believe in “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”! We have a local deli called the 9th Street Deli. It’s dingy and old inside, but I believe the familiar atmosphere coupled with good food is what keeps people coming back. The new, young couple who took it over a couple of years ago, wisely kept it the same. They get the same crowd of lawyers (it’s downtown and two doors sown from the courthouse), college students and tourists (it’s next to the Jimmy Stewart Museum), as well as those of us who work in downtown Indiana. It has plenty of competition, but remains one of the more popular places in Indiana! I wish Primanti’s well, and I hope the move doesn’t hurt their business.
Well egg...and fries...on my face! I just looked up the Primanti story and either WTAE reported it wrong or I misheard. The outlet closing is on Cherry Way dahntahn not in the strip. Thank goodness! The original is a landmark!
That’s great news!! It would have been a big mistake to close the Primanti’s in the Strip District!
Son and wife are moving to Lawrenceville in March. I hope it’s safe area. They are excited about the move. It’s close to the Strip District. I imagine they’ll be spending a lot of time there!
I worked in Lawrenceville and never had a problem. That was in the 80’s though. It has actually improved since then. Lots of new construction and younger people moving in.
It depends on what end of Lawrenceville they are living in. The part closer to 40th Street is more gentrified, I think.
In the late 90s, I owned a house at the other end, for less than a year. I bought it without too much consideration and when I realized what I had done I sold it as soon as I could. But I can’t say I had any problems when I lived there.
