Authorities are on alert after a shootout was reported across the border from Falcon State Park.

It all started with reports of a gunfire coming from Nueva Ciudad Guerrero just after 9 a.m. Friday.

Mexican authorities have not released any information but Border Patrol, sheriff's deputies, customs officers and others are on alert.

The law enforcement agencies have increased patrols on the American side of the border.

Falcon State Park Manager Carlos Rivas told Action 4 News that there is heightened security at the park but it remains open.

Hey—the park is open—let’s all run down for a visit!

Actually, there’s not much that would get me to go into any area along the Texas/Mexico border these days.

As long as the guns only have seven round magazines and no black plastic on them it’s okay.

Probably some gangs mixing it up. Nueva Ciudad Guerrero is some 6 miles or so as the crow flies across Falcon Lake from Falcon State Park. It’s about 3 miles or so from the dam.
