NBC: Chicago Gun Restrictions Ineffective Because of Gun Rights Elsewhere
NewsBusters ^

Posted on 02/01/2013 6:02:23 PM PST by chessplayer

In a report at the top of Thursday's NBC Nightly News, correspondent Kevin Tibbles fretted that "Despite bylaws that prohibit gun shops within city limits...Chicago appears to be awash in guns." A sentiment that echoed ABC World News anchor Diane Sawyer, who on Wednesday announced to viewers that the whole nation was "awash in guns."

The declaration from Tibbles teed up gun control advocate and UCLA law professor Adam Winkler to claim that problem with Chicago's gun restrictions was that they were not universal: "Chicago certainly has strict gun control laws. But the difficulty is that outlying areas outside of Chicago and in other states, neighboring Illinois, don't have strict gun control laws, and the guns easily flow into Chicago because of that."

At least when some of Holders people come to my nearby mini-metropolis and get caught with coke and guns, we have a judge that hands down 30 year sentences like candy

So why aren’t the places where Chicago’s guns come from as bad as Chicago?

Build a wall, don't let any evil guns in.

Maybe the surrounding communities sell guns to protect themselves from the citizens of Chicago.

Kinda like the gun restrictions in Mexico are ineffective because the ATF is illegally running guns across the border?

So, let me understand the argument. Chicago’s strict gun laws don’t work for the reason that criminals don’t abide by them, and acquire guns in other places to bring into Chicago. Thus, they knowingly violate the law. Is this the argument?

Yes, that is the ignorant argument.

That’s amazing! Mexico has the same problem.

Guess what top two nation states supply them?

It ain’t the USA

“I wonder why we are so different than Chicago”

My guess is that you are not surrounded by inner city black and Hispanic gang bangers and gansta rapper wannabes.

No, his argument is that utopia is hampered by too much freedom.

The obvious answer is for Baraq and Rhambo to deputize the Million Moms for Gun Control and send them into Chicago next summer to round up all the illegal guns

Thats a great idea, after that they can go on a national tour and clean up all the bad places.

It is illegal all across the country to distribute cocaine.
Does that mean there is no cocaine in Chicago?

By their reasoning, it must be cocaine free. No drugs whatsoever in Chicago. Not even pot.

I have a condo on s. south shore drive, (facing east, all water views) I been trying to sell for 2 years. I can’t give the place away. It’s right next to where Obama held his wedding reception. (South shore center, very rough south side Obama hood)

If anybody interested in a Chicago condo let me know great views!
(Yeah I know, no takers just thought I’d throw it out there)

Ah, it’s nice to have a bit of diversity, isn’t it? You know, embracing other cultures and ways of life, and tolerating them and whatnot. Sure, people can’t buy guns here in Chicago, but they can right across that highway, or over there, or on the other side of the river. Isn’t it just wonderful that we can accept those other jurisdictions as they are without wanting to impose our own morals upon them? Because, after all, can we be really sure what right and wrong really is?

Chicago is awash in neo-Nazis and their 50 IQ savage spawn. Diane Sawyer is the fascist honeypot where Rahm dips his beak. And the UCLA professor is a sewer pipe for everything flushed down the Chicago toilet.
