The percentage of individuals who identify as conservative in 2012 outnumber those who identify as liberal in 47 out of the 50 states, in addition to the District of Columbia (D.C.) according to a Gallup poll released on Feb. 1.

Nationally, the amount of self-identified conservatives (38 percent) still outnumbers liberals (23 percent). The disparity between conservatives and liberals has remained consistent since Gallup began its tracking in 2008. …

Yes, and such results by Gallup were noted back in 2009 and last year. So why has the GOP abandoned such a large base? The recent election results do not indicate they have stayed home and give more credence to the notion of massive election fraud, ITOHO.

One big problem: Entitled, selfish, indoctrinated nincompoops, who vote through fraudulent methods; outnumber disgruntled Conservatives who are sick of mayo and cucumber squishy candidates and those named Bush. Sets not mutually exclusive.

Do you mean conservative like John McCain and Joe Scarborough?
or Conservative like Ted Cruz, Pat Toomey & Tim Scott?

Low taxes, small, Constitutional government and capable, reliable military OR Homeland Security, Obamacare and weapons confiscation?

What is “Conservatism” is under attack.

This is the kind of thanks the GOP-e gives the Tea Party and other conservatives for the “shellacking” of 2010. All a game and a trick to get more liberals in power.

Sarah Palin could get them to show up to vote.

Depends on how many politicians participated in this poll, I guess. If conservative citizens are in the majority, then the government should also be conservative; but the preponderance of liberals among both parties indicates much illegal maneuvering and usurpation.

Report: "Gallup: Conservatives Outnumber Liberals in 47 Out of 50 States and DC"

Response: Assuming a reasonably precise and uniformly accepted definitions of "conservative" and "liberal" then why are we not in control?

Comment: I think the problem is really in the term "moderate." A moderate is a liberal!

The Governor’s would then be the logical group to lead a challenge if this is true.

The 47 Governors should secede, form their own union and leave the other 3 hanging out to dry. Reject all ownership claims and seize all property not owned by anyone outside the great 47.

All seized property could be used as a source of income therefore eliminating the need for income tax.

Next question please.

"Seize all property not owned by anyone outside the great 47"?

What are you, a communist?

Either way, it does sound like something a communist would say.

self-identifying polls are mostly meaningless.
I seen too many call themselves conservative when they are anything but...

The problem is that we can’t get them to turn out to vote. Even with massive voter fraud, conservatives would win if they would only turn out to vote.

So why has the GOP abandoned such a large base?

My guess is that maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of those who tell a poster they are "conservative" wouldn't last three days on FR without getting the zot.

We Freepers are a part, of a part, of a part, of a part of the electorate.

Duhh!!

The poll results are those who ‘self-identify’. It’s not based on any behavior.

If one lives in a college town and doesn’t agree with local professors that corporate executives should be executed, it’s possible to imagine oneself ‘conservative’.

Look at all the FReepers who self-describe themselves as ‘conservative’ because they oppose abortion and gay marriage but endorse every socialist policy backed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops!

What good are these numbers for self professed “conservatives” if they don’t show up and/or vote conservative?

Uh... Gallup polls are conducted over landline telephones, right?

People in cities since the late 1990s stopped getting landline telephones and just relied on their cell. Same is going on now with hardwired internet service... they are using wireless smartphones and tablets.

Gallup: Conservatives Outnumber Liberals in 47 Out of 50 States and DC

This is complete and insurmountable drivel.

I think if I was a GOP politician who cared about my next paycheck and couldn't care less about the future of the United States, I would abandon the base as well. This nation isn't conservative. I'd guess 52% to 55% are ultra liberal. Another 20% are moderately liberal. Great Caesar's Ghost! A vote for George W. Bush was a vote for a liberal!

The only thing I can't understand is who liberals think will pay the freight when they destroy the production machine. Who do liberal voters think will take care of them when the put the real care givers out of business? That result is imminent.

So you don’t buy the election fraud theory, I take it.

38% conservative and 23% liberal, but they don’t do the math and mention the other 39%. Most ‘moderates’ probably fall well into the liberal category when it comes to the type government they want.

What you write is true enough. However, I’m interested in behaviors; having little faith in a politicians words.
