A search of a South Side home Friday revealed about $10 million worth of cocaine and more than $500,000 cash, leading to the arrest of the 21-year-old man who lived there. Two others also face felony charges in the case.

Jose Pelayo-Aguilar, of the 3600 block of South Leavitt Avenue, was charged with manufacturing or delivering and possessing more than 900 grams of cocaine. During a Sunday court appearance, Judge Israel Desierto ordered him held on a $75,000 cash bond.

If anyone still doesn't know why they are shooting each other in Chigaco, here it is. They are fighting over territory in the drug trade.

Now, does anyone think that by banning certain models of guns, the drug trade will go away? Or will they just find other means to kill each other over street corners?

Are you kidding? 75K? That judge is the same ethnic background, I am sure, but that is no reason to set bail so low. WOW! Is he getting a cut of the cocaine? What is the deal here?

And we wonder why criminals laugh at the system. Justice is almost never meted out. The court system also picks winners and loser. The losers are the honest people, in case you didn’t figure that one out.

That cash now belongs to the city of Chicago, he cannot make bond with it. The city wants an additional $75,000.

I was thinking the same thing. Did someone get paid off so this dealer could take a walk?

So he can’t use the $500K for bond OR for his legal defense? I had a fuzzy memory that there was a recent high court ruling about allowing them to use their ill-gotten gains for legal defense???

Jose Pelayo-Aguilar.

I suppose the police are prevented from asking him where he came from so they aren’t labeled racists.

Probably will find he and his friends are illegal aliens.

If so, I am unaware of it, which wouldn’t be that unusual. I was under the impression that cops still seized all cash when seizing drugs, with the cash supposedly also going into the evidence locker, then it’s up to the individual to prove that wasn’t drug money. If he can’t prove it, then the money goes to the jurisdiction that took it from him.

How does one prove a negative anyway?

I used to read that almost all twenties and hundreds in circulation had traces of cocaine on them. I’ve read more recently that all bills, even the small ones have traces on them, which could mean, theoretically, that the cops could seize whatever money you happen to have in your wallet at any given time and it’d be up to you to prove that it wasn’t drug money.

This isn’t America any more.

That's what the guy in charge of the evidence locker will probably be saying.

This wasn't a bust.

It was a cartel payment to Chicago.

City gets half a mil. Plenty of top shelf party favors for the connected. And bidness as usual for the prohibition monopoly drug trade.
