If a mob-connected criminal is willing to vouch for him he must be OK.

Yes, and Mob connections have their own way of dealing with treachery.

They have never liked Commies much from what I have been told.

Have known a few of them in business. At arms length with my eyes open, but they don’t like theft from their operation.

These CREEPS would claim innocence even if we had an actual video of them caught "in the act."

Harry Reid is as trustworthy as the Muslim Brotherhood.

He didn’t do anything wrong in that country.

It’s absurd that our laws are extended to other jurisdictions because a thing that is illegal here but, legal there, is a punishable offense never the less.

I absolutely don’t condone what he is alleged to have done and if he did it here he ought to be jailed ferEvuh.

I guess if you can get away with rape, sexual harassment of an intern, adultery, running a homosexual brothel out of your townhouse or leaving a young woman for dead in your underwater Oldsmobile, what's a little pedophilia in a poor Caribbean country?

Give Menendez credit, he did fulfill his role in foreign relations. That Reid cannot see the immorality in paying to have sex with a child tells you all you need to know about Dirty Harry.

Now, why am I not surprised Harry Reid considers pedophilia “nothing wrong”.... Maybe there was indeed something to that “Harry-is-a-pedophile” campaign last year. Creepy old bastard..

Harry Reid expresses ‘confidence that no one will ever be able TO FIND EVIDENCE that Menendez did anything wrong’.

There, fixed it.

“He didn’t do anything wrong in that country.”

I think that even there, there is an “age of consent” and my guess is that menendez went there to get some pedophilia on. His supporters will be paying off a ton of young girls and their families.

Given the amount of drug trafficking and attendant police corruption that comes out of the Dominican Republic I wonder how a freakin’ eye doctor from Miami got involved with a security company that scans cargo containers from the DR port? I’m not suggesting anything untoward but in light of the slew of other allegations which have been raised concerning Menendez and his friend nothing at this point would surprise me.

It is a crime in the USA to travel to another Country for the purpose of having sex with a Minor.
There are People in jail right now for even attempting to do so.

“did nothing wrong” implies comparison of behavior to some standard.

We all know that the standard for leftists is that the ruling class should have no restrictions on their behaviors,

so by the leftists’ standard, he did, indeed, do nothing wrong, and it would actually be impossible for him to do anything “wrong”.

Do you throw idiotic lega falacies around in every conversation you have, or only in this thread?

The age of consent in the Dominican Republic is eighteen.

This was illegal. This was statutory rape. Prostitution is legal, but not with minors or with a third party profiting.

We have treaty responsibilities to expedite the extradition of sex tourists for trial.

That is where this should go.

Let them lock him up in one of their prisons and try him over there.

Lest we forget---Harry Reid is a b-i-g Dem honcho---the Senate's ever-visible Democratic majority leader---Obama's point man on Capitol Hill.

So when Harry Reid loyally defends Menendez and stoutly avers that, "Menendez is my friend," Reid "forgets to mention one little detail:"

Menendez won 2012 reelection handily---with some 58% of the vote. How'd he do that? A good part of his reelection was due to the financial and campaign support he received from Majority PAC, a “super PAC” set up by former aides to Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada).

As the Menendez campaign entered its final weeks, the Reid PAC poured a hefty $582,500 into New Jersey to support Mr. Menendez’s re-election. BY THE WAY One of the Reid PAC's biggest donors? Menendez Dominican pal and business partner---Dr. Salomon Melgen. Melgen's "company" donated $700,000 to the Reid PAC between June and October.

(Cackle) Just more of those "annoying right-wing factoids" getting in the way of Menendez's Dominican dreams of offshore riches and non-stop sex-----not to forget Obama's legacy dreams: a permanent Democrat majority via amnesty.

IF Sen Menendez were to be found guilty of traveling to the Dominican Republic to engage in sexual intercourse with underage prostitutes, he could face up to 30 years prison. The appropriate law, which would seem to apply in this instance, is the Prosecutorial Remedies And Other Tools To End The Exploitation Of Children Today (or the Protect Act). Menendez voted for the law when he was a member of the House of Representatives.

================================

“TRAVEL WITH INTENT TO ENGAGE IN ILLICIT SEXUAL CONDUCT. “A person who travels in interstate commerce or travels into the United States, or a United States citizen or an alien admitted for permanent residence in the United States who travels in foreign commerce, for the purpose of engaging in any illicit sexual conduct with another person shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.

‘‘(c) ENGAGING IN ILLICIT SEXUAL CONDUCT IN FOREIGN PLACES.—Any United States citizen or alien admitted for permanent residence who travels in foreign commerce, and engages in any illicit sexual conduct with another person shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.”

‘‘(d) ANCILLARY OFFENSES.—Whoever, for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, arranges, induces, procures, or facilitates the travel of a person knowing that such a person is traveling in interstate commerce or foreign commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.

‘‘(e) ATTEMPT AND CONSPIRACY.—Whoever attempts or conspires to violate subsection (a), (b), (c), or (d) shall be punishable in the same manner as a completed violation of that subsection. (rest at web site)

I have a slightly different take on how this is all playing out. I think that somebody in the GOP finally decided to be smart, really, really, smart.

The stories, including the underage prostitutes, about Menendez have been around fro some time. Yet the Daily Caller, which really pushed it into the MSM, waited until this year to front page it.

Had this come out say, last August, before the election, then NJ Dems would have dusted off the "Torricelli playbook," and they'd have forced him out, and elected somebody in his place.

Far better to let him get re-elected, THEN break the story, force him to resign, and, oh yeah..let Christie pick his replacement.

Ya think????
