There hasn’t been a new refinery built in the United States for more than 30 years, but a few of them have undergone massive upgrades

In the same time period, the overwhelming majority of refinery capacity has had extensive upgrades and expansions.

Expansion of existing refineries provides the equivalent of one new refinery every year. When they buy the land for a new refinery they buy way more than they need for the initial operation.

It will be quite easy to defeat the Northeast States, should they start a civil war: cut their supply of refined petroleum products.

I guess the enviro-weenies think their Priuses run on unicorn farts.
