Former congressman and libertarian icon Ron Paul tweeted a startling reaction to the death of SEAL sniper Chris Kyle on Monday:
Chris Kyle's death seems to confirm that "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn't make sense
Kyle and a friend were both killed by a veteran struggling with PTSD while working with him at a gun range on Saturday.
Kyle was the author of the best-selling "American Sniper," which detailed his time as a record-holding SEAL sniper.

Chris Kyle is an American Hero, who saved countless lives by killing the worst of our enemies and for Ron Paul to make such a statement upon the tragic death of Chris Kyle is beyond shameful.
Fool. And from a former service member too. Fool.
There is no more contemptible human being alive than Ron Paul.
He has no excuse.
Startling? Not to me. I always knew Ron Paul was a complete idiot.
How about...no comment with extreme prejudice.
I would have some additional comments, but none of them are printable.
If I were a libertarian I would recant on the spot — it seems like being a libertarian means hating the USA and those who fight for us to keep our freedoms and not succumb to terrorists.
Absolutely. Someone once ask Carlos Hathcock how many kills he had expecting a bravado answer. He told them that he liked to think of how many he might have saved. I think Chris was cut from the same cloth.
“The Paleocon far-right has melded with left-wing anarchists and absorbed their hatred for America and the military. It is not merely critical of the legal authorization for war, it is actively hostile to the American soldiers fighting it. Ron Paul has become John Kerry with the Taliban as the new Viet Cong.
Now that Ron Paul is no longer running for office, he feels free to vent this kind of ugliness without worrying about the political consequences. Hes free to be the ugly person he was in his newsletters.”
How can the “Ronbots” continue to defend this guy?
Evil old b@stard!
Ron Paul is an absolute disgrace. A disgusting human being.
Will have to remind the paultards of this when they show up spewing conspiracy theories about “globalists”, the Bilderberg Group and neo-cons (aka Jews).
Not surprising that he will continue to be a classless A-hole to his own dying day.
Paul has taken this to the nth degree. A useless old goat asshat that needs to disappear.
THIS kind of stuff is exactly why he never had a chance. He would say some things that made a little sense but then he would pop off with sh!t like this. That’s why so many people (like me) would never even consider voting for him. When it comes to war or anything military he’s a worthless p*ssy. Not just a pacifist but a Disrespectful pacifist. A man who can be counted on to ridicule any suggestion of standing up to international bullies.
In other words, useless.
Below is from today’s Patriot Post..
“Chris Kyle, RIP
Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, a Patriot from Texas and author of the outstanding book, “American Sniper,” was killed Saturday while assisting fellow veterans suffering from PTSD. Chris served with the SEAL Team 3 Sniper Element Charlie platoon, and was the most lethal sniper in U.S. history, with 160 confirmed kills and another 95 probables. He was known to his enemies as Al-Shaitan Ramad (The Devil of Ramadi).
In 2008, near Sadr City, Chris neutralized an RPG-carrying insurgent at more than 2,000 meters with his Lapua Magnum .338 PGM. During his four combat tours, Chris was shot twice and survived six IED explosions. He left military service three years ago after earning two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation. He has devoted much of the last three years to working with fellow vets suffering from PTSD.
Chris leaves behind his wife Taya, two children, and a long list of family and friends. He was a tireless defender of Liberty and the Second Amendment, and he will be sorely missed”
I will agree that Paul should have first vetted that Tweet before posting it. But that being said, remember that he has a medical degree, and was probably thinking more of what Kyle had done:
“Treating PTSD at a firing range doesnt make sense.”
Kyle was thinking that the best way to break through PTSD is to put a gun in the hand of the veteran. DON’T DO THIS. While it may be done with permission by an expert, PTSD is a complicated mental condition, and should only be dealt with by an amateur with kid gloves.
I strongly suspect that after the psychiatrists examine the Marine, they will find he needs institutionalization and a lot of psychiatric care.
Paul could have put it more tactfully, as “Amateurs should not try to practice psychiatric medicine without a license.”
Isn’t Ron Paul a surgeon? Live by the scalpel.........
‘xactly. He’s a former politician. Live by your mouth, die by your mouth.
“I strongly suspect that after the psychiatrists examine the Marine, they will find he needs institutionalization and a lot of psychiatric care.”
Since he was already diagnosed with PTSD, why didn’t the psychiatrists already know that he was dangerous and institutionalized him prior to this?!
Ron Paul’s tweet is disgusting because he almost says “it serves him right” for fighting for his country.
“Kyle was thinking that the best way to break through PTSD is to put a gun in the hand of the veteran. DONT DO THIS. While it may be done with permission by an expert, PTSD is a complicated mental condition, and should only be dealt with by an amateur with kid gloves.”
The professionals already had their shot with this guy. Evidently, they thought he was okay to go to Haiti after his tour in Iraq. There’s a lot of people who suffered PTSD and can go to a gun range fine, including Dakota Meyer, the medal of honor winner.
I’d say the professionals missed this one, not Kyle. I’m sure Kyle wouldn’t have taken him to the range if he had known how bad he was. If the guy shouldn’t have been at the gun range, he shouldn’t have been allowed to use a car, a knife or anything else. In other words he should have been in a mental facility. He had at least one recent DUI. He could have taken out a lot of people while driving too.
I hear he’s applying for membership in the Westboro ‘Baptist Church’.
I think we all agree that Paul stupidly shot his mouth off and that the Marine really needs work on his head space and timing. But it is part of an even bigger problem.
After WWII, the media pushed the idea that soldiers returning from the war were dangerous. Which outside of a few incidents proved not to be the case. But Iraq and Afghanistan may actually be worse in the long run.
Some soldiers did more than a dozen tours. The relative number of PTSD cases is extraordinarily high. And while the “acute” effects are likely not going to be unusually high, the “chronic” effects are going to be like nothing ever seen before.
As a rule of thumb, half of PTSD cases spontaneously get better. The majority of the remainder have their own curve, with most having milder forms of disability; some needing extensive care; and a relative few that are mentally gone for good.
What an old fool, thank God his son isn’t like him.
This increases my loathing for RuPaul even more, if possible.
Ron Paul is right.
I detest Ron Paul.
While violence is never my first option I think Ron needs a swift kick in the nutz!
A horrible thing he said!
So, traumer, you think all American servicemembers deserve to be murdered?
No, no he isn’t. Anybody who thinks he is, is as stupid as he is.
Too bad Ron Paul is no longer in Congress, because he sure deserves to be censored for that disgusting tweet.
He would be celebrated by the Democrats.
No.
But he is philosophically correct.
What do you mean by “philosophically correct”? That a military servicember is “living by the sword” and therefore should “die by the sword”?
IOW you think snipers should be murdered?
I don’t see any other conclusion.
APparently you and RPaul think that the military are doing evil murders and deserve to be murdered. If you don’t mean that, please explain.
“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men {Like Chris Kyle} stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura filed a lawsuit last year accusing Kyle of defaming him in the book by exaggerating his description of a fight between the two at the wake for SEAL Mikey Monsoor, who was killed in Iraq in 2006.
The book quoted Ventura, also a Navy veteran, as saying he “hates America” and telling Kyle, who was mourning the death of a SEAL teammate, “You deserve to lose a few.” Kyle described punching Ventura out at the Coronado, California, bar.
In the suit, Ventura denied making the statements in the book, contending that “the entire story about a confrontation with and physical assault and battery of Governor Ventura was false and defamatory.”
Karma is a bitch....
Whatever happened or did not happen between Ventura and Kyle has not a damn thing to do with his murder, nor your irrelevant quote. And your further comments clearly show that you think Kyle deserved to be murdered.
You’re a nasty little thing.
From February.
Thanks Innovative.
Seconded.
