Ahmadinejad Says He's Willing to Be First Iranian Astronaut

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that he is willing to be the first Iranian sent into space on behalf of the nation’s space program.

"I am ready to be the first human to be sent to space by Iranian scientists," Ahmadinejad said on Monday, adding that he is willing to sacrifice his life for the country’s space program.

"Sending living things into space is the result of Iranian efforts and the dedication of thousands of Iranian scientists," he said, according to the Mehr news agency.

Ahmadinejad’s remarks come following the announcement last week that Iran had successfully launched a monkey into space.

The launch, which was hailed by Iranian officials as a major accomplishment towards their goal of sending humans into space, added to western concerns regarding the regime’s space program because the same rocket technology could potentially be used to deliver a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile.

The announcement of the launch stirred questions on the Internet, with people pointing to differences between official images of the primate before takeoff and after landing,

On January 28, official Iranian media published pictures of a monkey named Pishgam (Pioneer) prior to the launch. The animal had light grey fur and a red mole above its right eye.

Later, however, the ISNA news agency released photos taken while presenting the monkey to the press after its landing which showed a darker fur and no mole.

Doesn’t count. He didn’t murder all his crew-mates the moment the g-force let go and he could stand. What the hell kind of a Muslim was he trying to pass himself off as?

If we still had NASA, we could offer to take him up free of charge. Of course, there is no guarantee we will bring him back.

How would we know which one was the monkey if they launched him and the one they put into space recently; and launched them both at the same time?

(Have at it.... you can have field day with this one) :)

Why would we want to know? Leave them both up there, and one of them is bound to be Ahmadenijad. As for the other, monkeys are cute but expendable.

The very idea of “I’m-a-dinner-jacket being blasted off into the outer space is deeply amusing. It almmost has the appearance of Poetic Justice, were this to actually occurr. Mr. Ahama’s space traveler ambition lives up to our western image of him as being a dangerous buffoon, an erst-while Mr. Limpet Meets Dr. Strangelove, if you will.

The reality is that, he is probably way too old. This is a man who has been committing (or aiding in the commision of) mortal sins enmasse since 1979, when he aided the take-over of our embassy.
I believe Mr. Amadinijad (sp) is on his way out as the appointed president, and thus wishes to establish his legacy as an accomplished coordinator of social destruction, sort of like certain other Heads Of State continue to do.

As I read your first sentence, and before reading your Dr. Strangelove reference, I thought, "Someone really needs to do a photoshop of I'm-a-dinner-jacket as Dr. Strangelove..."

I can see no downside to sending him into space.

"This is Mahmoud Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today "

Quick!
Before he changes his mind!

Not that it makes any difference. He's always been just the mouthpiece for the ventriloquist Ayatollahs...

Allahu Akbar!
