1) Frame (twist, distort, pervert) reality to make the deviant/perp into the victim
2) Invent a "simple" reason for the supposed victimization of the duplicitous perp, the more irrational/unfair/sexist/racist/intolerant/Neanderthal it can be made to look, the better.
3) Attack the victim by making it look like self-defense.
By the time 1) and 2) have been set in place, the bystanders will take the side of and/or help the vicious POS, smug in their conviction that it is the right and proper thing to do.
Those who have been the target of a conniving sociopathic relative, spouse, neighbor, coworker, and/or state agent recognize the pattern of this destructive gotcha! game.
These nasty players set up the playing field to control both goalposts. If they can't kick their victims into the goal labeled "the silent and submissive", they've got the other one marked "outcast, misfit, buffoon, pariah, intolerant freak, hater..."
The only way on *that* playing field to avoid both goals is to end up exhausted and demoralized from being relentlessly pursued, or to end up being kicked or stomped to death. Totalitarians kill their millions this way.
