An Alabama high school football coach has been suspended without pay for 10 days for making derogatory comments about Michelle Obama and homosexuals.

So what happened to the teachers who indoctrinated children with the praises of Obama some in song? What happened to the teachers who preach two daddies to little kids?

There is no freedom of speech in this country when you lose your job over some breath that comes out of your mouth.
My high school niece tells me crap the teachers say all the time, putting down religion and the like.
Oh, I don’t disagree with either one of you... and that’s the problem we conservatives have when working in a Leftist environment.
At the same time, if I’m an employer, I danged well want the right to fire anybody embarrassing me and my business with the kind of pablum that they spew. It’s way past time to be civil about things like this, for we’ve been more than tolerant. You are free to have an opinion, but if you’re working for me and taking my money, then stuff it until you get home.

we live in a culture that would prefer us all to be politically friendly/correct rather than be truthful.
I thought fairy tales were just imaginary, but I think we do live in the land where the emperor wears no clothes and we are supposed to marvel at his new outfit.

Then I would consider recording it and formally complaining about it. If you get no satisfaction, then put it up on youtube. As I just said above, I'm getting a little tired of being part of the tolerant part of our culture. If the Left wants to complaing at the drop of a hat, then I believe we could do at least as much damage - if we are motivated to do so.
What about if you’re a public employer? I sense a school board fight coming, especially if the coach is a winner.
I have to agree with the coach.
What good is freedom of speech when expressing an opinion will get you FIRED (if you are a conservative).
Don't forget: the guarantees in the 1st amendment only mean that the government cannot prosecute you for your opinions. This has nothing whatsoever to do with private employers; nor for private reactions to your comments.
Obvious example: Opinionated sports figures tend to lose their endorsement deals.
IOW, 'Free Speech' is protected, but it can be costly: you're still responsible for the (non-governmental) consequences.
I suspect he was a coach at a government “school” where failing to genuflect to the Empress is punished.
This is no different from China. If you publicly state a negative opinion of the party (at least not consistently) the local apparatchiks use the power of the state (which controls everything) to come down on you. You lose your job, your benefits, and make you a public pariah
