The usual suspects pushing immigration reform have a new ally in the fight this time—the religious right.

Christian conservatives, who stayed on the sidelines in 2006 or opposed reform outright, have sprung into action for the cause.

They’re talking to their congregations from the pulpit. They’re urging lawmakers in private meetings to support reform. And they’re even calling for change publicly.

The efforts have dramatically changed the dynamics of the debate, so much so that Republicans anxious to vote yes on a deal might have the political cover to do it. …

Ah, no.

It's not the Christian RIGHT that's doing this, just Polutico using Satan's method.

If true this is coming from the low-information voters on the conservative side.

Yeah, he does indeed. Ralph Reed (Faith and Freedom Coalition), Matthew Staver (Liberty University), Tom Minnery (Focus on the Family), Richard Land (Southern Baptist Convention, which has been going liberal for some years now), and Noel Castellanos (Christian Community Development Association).

POLITICO writers don’t know how to be truthful. That is one of the BIGGEST sites for Obama butt-kissing there is. I get so mad when Drudge has a link to them without telling me first...grrrrr! I click out of it as fast as I can. Everything in POLITICO has been cleared by the WH, they are that chummy.

This report is AstroTurf.

The article is a fraud to generate support for amnesty.

Do not believe it. None of it.

It is another example of the corrupt evil from Washington.

“I think it is night and day, particularly among social conservatives,” Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Ralph Reed told Politico of the support for immigration reform. …

High profile leaders are also weighing in. Mathew Staver, vice president of Liberty University, the college started by former TV minister Jerry Falwell, is on board. Focus on the Family, which for years has focused on issues like opposing abortion rights and gay marriage, is supporting immigration reform for the first time in its history—even using its radio broadcast that reaches millions to push its message. “The issues had been so demagogued for the last five or six years, it was hopeless to get seriously into this,” said Tom Minnery of Focus on the Family. “It seems the time is better. The time has changed…That’s why we’ve become more active.” …

“Many of the most hostile critics got beat, a fact not lost on the other House members,” said Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, referring to Republicans who have lost their seats since 2006. …

“We’ve moved beyond the religious leadership in our country on the evangelical side to begin influencing more of the pews,” said Noel Castellanos of CCDA (Christian Community Development Association). “We need to inform them and expose them the way we did with our pastors.” …
I don’t think any of them were taken out of context, although Politico is Politico.

I don’t know if that’s support letting them all stay with no consequences or work or support for rules to let those that follow the rules to stay. I think you are right, it’s easy for Politico to do the out of context thing.

Our former bishop frequently told us that no humans are illegal. His how to vote flier in one of our October 2006 bulletins informed us that we should vote for those who understand the international human right to affordable healthcare. He’s Joliet, IL’s problem now.

Christian Right?

More like the sob-sisters of the Christian Left.

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.

I do have the feeling that the SBC isn’t representative of every Southern Baptist church though. The Convention was going left on the illegal immigration issue back in 2011; seems to be this Richard Land fellow pushing things in that direction (they were against amnesty back then though).
