American Crossroads Vetting Rep. Steve King For Senate Seat
Kmeg ^ | Feb 06, 2013 | Heather Leigh, Reporter

Karl Rove versus Steve King. Rove was one of President Bush's top advisors, but now Iowa's open Senate seat has one of America's top Republican operatives gearing up to fight one of his own, vetting candidates who have a history of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. And, that apparently includes Congressman Steve King.

Steven Law, the CEO of American Crossroads, told the New York Times:

"We're concerned about Steve King's Todd Akin problem....All of the things he's said are going to be hung around his neck," says Law.

Law is apparently referring to comments King made to Siouxland News during his congressional campaign last summer.

While most Republicans were distancing themselves from Akin, King came to Akin's defense and said he was unaware of any 12-year-old girls getting pregnant from statutory rape, or incest.

"Well I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way and I'd be open to hearing a discussion about that subject matter," King said in an interview to Siouxland News on August 20, 2012.

Now, with a Senate seat up for grabs in Iowa next year, American Crossroads wants to avoid a repeat of 2012.

"We had some really significant self destructive candidates, who ended up impacting others on the ballot too, like Todd Akin in Missouri and Richard Mourdock in Indiana and our goal is to see if we can try and find those conservative candidates who are going to be disciplined, who are going to raise the money, and be competitive in a general election," says Law.

Though I believe that Iowa is currently “lost”, if I were in IA, I let Rove know that his candidate can’t/WON’T win either. I’d guarantee it.

I thought Jim DeMint was going to be out here fighting with us but I haven’t heard a peep out of him.

It’s only 2/6/2013 :-) ... there’s still plenty of infighting that needs to occur :-).

Let’s see who Sarah Palin endorses! Her record is much, much better that Rove’s!

Rove’s American Crossroads outspent her Sarah PAC by hundreds of millions, yet her candidates won election and they’re not “moderates,” unless you want to call Governor’s Martinez of NM and Haley of SC “moderates” along with US Senator’s like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul. Her list of wins is much, much longer. I’m just citing four.

TEA Party, grassroots, strong Conservatives WIN almost every time, if not every time.

I tried warning people about Adelson but he was backing their guy so they didn’t care about his support for gay marriage or abortion.

I don’t see Foster Freiss on that list.

We outside IA don’t know Congressman Steve King. Is he conservative, what are his past comments which may be a problem, can he raise enough $ to be a contender?

Not really sure what DeMint plans to do, but he seemed to indicate that he had to leave the senate to get the message he wanted out there more effectively. DeMint felt the Heritage Foundation was the right vehicle for that.

Steve King is a pretty conservative and a good person to have on your concern. I am sure since he is one of those who fights the establishment that will find something to after him with.

Perhaps we need to use Rove’s own words against him.
Create a video montage of all the words Rove spewed about Conservative candidates and his demand that we all needed to fall in line to back Rinos because Romney was the Only one who would beat Bronco Bamma.

Then send it to all his financial backers and ask them how many more millions do they want to waste on washed up “advisors” and losing Candidates.

Rove is an odious sow.

Using a bastardized form of political correctness to go after political "enemies" within their party, especially after continually losing their ass to obama, reveals the progressive nature of what passes as eGOP character, as well as who they play for.

These are the techniques he and team Romney used to clear the primary field for another obama win.

Note to Karl Rove: stay the he!! OUT of this. You will only make things worse. We know the difference between a Barrow and a Boar,,and which one of them has nads,, and WHY. Don’t come into Iowa and try to explain politics to us,, we were knocking doors and putting up yard signs when you were still at some goofy frat party drinking grape juice and grain alcohol mixed up in a garbage can.
