Karl Rove may be trying to quell conservative concerns that his new political group is really an effort to crush the tea party. But actions will speak louder than words – and already, Mr. Rove's group may have a test case on its hands.
Rove's Conservative Victory Project has a stated goal of making sure only electable candidates emerge victorious from GOP primaries. But he told Fox News Tuesday: "This is not tea party versus the establishment."
So what is it? The campaign of Rep. Paul Broun (R) of Georgia, who on Wednesday filed paperwork to run for the seat of retiring GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss, could provide clues.
He is exactly the kind of candidate that, in theory, Rove's group would want to weed out. Ultra-conservative on both social and fiscal matters, Congressman Broun has amassed a reputation for making inflammatory and controversial statements during his time in Congress. A doctor, he gained national attention last fall when he said at a sportsman's banquet that "all that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big-bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell." At the same event, he also said he believed Earth was less than 9,000 years old and was created in six days.
A member of the Tea Party Caucus, Broun ran unopposed in the last election, but some 4,000 voters in his district wrote in "Charles Darwin" on the ballot. . . .

Bush had a stealth amnesty by just refusing to enforce the law, just like Obama is doing. Obama gets away with it because Bush did the same thing Obama is doing now. Bush, McCain and Rove helped millions of Mexicans invade America and now these same STUPID IDIOTS are telling us that because latinos elected Obama we have obviously not kissed their asses enough and given them enough of our country. Rove would do well politically to enthusiastically and financially support Broun in this one-off election to quell the skepticism of conservatives. It would make the knife-in-the-back all that more effective come the next general elections.
Akin was shot down by Republicans,including Hannity and th other talkers, not by Democrats. Democrats defend their candidates, no matter what. Republicans viciously turn on their own when they offend leftist sensibilities. So called conservatives, like Republicans, are too damned nervous about offending communists and the Left in general. It shows they believe deep down that the Left is the real measure of society and its legitimacy.
To replace them with stupid and weak establishment types. The establishment has a worse record in the "winnable races" department than the TEA Party does, after all.

In Georgia, GOP thinking goes, Broun's nomination could result in the immediate reanimation of a down-at-the-heels Democratic Party.
It is an assessment that Democrats agree with. "Congressman Broun represents the worst and most extreme element of the Republican Party. If there is a living God, [Broun] will be the party's nominee in 2014. Unfortunately, as Democrats, we're simply not that lucky," said Michael Berlon, chairman of the state Democratic Party. "But if he's the nominee, we almost certainly take the seat."
If nothing else, Berlon thinks the entry of the Athens congressman into the Senate race will make it easier to recruit a Democratic candidate. For the next 20 months, he'll be talking about "Paul Broun's Republican Party."
"[Broun] doesn't believe in science. He's talked about how he doesn't believe the president was born in the United States. He thinks the president is either alternately a Marxist or he's a Nazi. And he's not afraid to say that," Berlon said. "I don't understand how that translates into any credible run for the U.S. Senate. And I think it's embarrassing to Georgia and the Republican Party."
What policy effect does the denial of evolution and a 9,000 year old earth have? If he’s a doctor, it doesn’t seem to have any effect on his practice of medicine. This is another liberal distraction. They believe in socialism and intend to implement it, even though it has failed for the people everytime it’s been tried. That’s ignorance.

you will find that,
“The Lieberman/Coburn proposal will require those 65 and older who are making more than $150,000 annually ($300,000 for couples) to pay the full premium costs for their Medicare Part D drug coverage. Formal savings estimates for this policy are forthcoming, but we estimate it will save $5 to 10 billion over 10 years.”
AND THAT IS THE ONLY CHANGE TO MEDICARE PART D, THAT COBURN ENDORSES.
You will also find from the Heritage foundation that “Couples with annual incomes of $300,000 or more would also pay the full cost of their Part B and D premiums.”

It has the same effect as declaring that he has met and had sex with an extra terrestrial.
I should add that I think it is more likely that Broun had sex with ET than Earth being 9,000 years (Earth years, normal time) old and that it is less likely that he had sex with ET than evolution being correct.
No. Rove's goal is to make sure candidates ROVE thinks are electable win.
I'm against stupid candidates like Akin as well, but I trust Rove about as much as I'd trust Obama. Rove's track record is not very good strictly from a competence standpoint.
Rove’s track record not good? I’d say winning two Presidential campaigns is more than any other active Republican politician you can name.
Just say you don’t like him, or his viewpoint, but I wouldn’t question his competence.
Less than 200,000 voters spread over several states and everyone would be saying how brilliantly he predicted the outcome.
Who would suspect that so many Republican voters from 2008 wouldn’t even go to the polls?
And some were anti-Mormon and some were turned off by morons like Akin. If you have folks like that carrying the Republican brand as the face of your party, you are going to lose. Period.
And that is what Rove and others are trying to change. The Tea Party folks are fine citizens for the most part but if you let radicals take over, you can’t win.
What effect does this have on policy?
