LAS VEGAS -- One month and one day after the elementary-school massacre that threatens to change the American gun industry, a group based where that atrocity took place mixed defiance with discretion Tuesday in opening the doors to the world's largest gun show.
More than 60,000 gun dealers, retailers and apparel makers are in Las Vegas this week for the annual Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade convention, hosted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation of Newtown.
The four-day "SHOT Show" is not for the public -- it's for those who sell to the public.

The article really didn’t memtino any “ties” except that the activities of the gun industry are related to the event in that we were discussing it, responding to it (or appropriately, not), and selling products that might be pertinent.
CNN has “ties” to the massacre by that standard.
What are we all supposed to give up our rights because of some nutcase in Connecticut?
There is a tie.
And it is an interesting one.
The group that hosts the huge gun show that sells to 60,000 gun dealers, retailers, and apparel makers just happens to be based in Newtown.
Josh Sugarmann, quoted in the article, is from Newtown and is
