Victoria is a fifth-grader at Reed Intermediate School, located about a mile or so from the elementary school that was the scene of the tragic mass shooting. In fairness to Stevens, the misinformation was not his doing. While his original remarks were a little ambigious—he said that his daughter "was in lockdown" during the shooting and that "her classmate’s little sister was murdered in Sandy Hook that day"—he's already gone out of his way to correct the error, emailing the Examiner to set the story straight:
Thank you for the nice article about my testimony in Hartford. Unlike the Liberal media who don't let facts get in the way, I just wanted to let you know that my daughter does not attend Sandy Hook Elementary, but was in "lock down" nonetheless on December 14, 2012 at Reed Intermediate School (5th & 6th grade) about a mile away with her classmates, one of whom lost his little sister that day....

There was nothing misleading or untruthful in his Mr. Steven's remarks. But it was easy enough to infer from his remarks that his daughter was at Sandy Hook - an innocent mistake.
Nonetheless, some on the left are gloating and jumping on this and accusing the conservative media of deliberately perpetuating a falsehood. Well, what else do you expect from them? :(

Some people are even suggesting that Mr. Stevens was being deliberately misleading. Creepy. :(
Indeed. The entire Newtown School District was on "lock down" that day as Stevens testified, but the district's elementary schools are for grades K-4.
It's obviously bothering the Left, who want to exploit the tragedy to advance a gun-grabbing agenda, that a Newtowner's pro-2nd Amendment testimony has struck a nerve on the Right and went viral.

TIME's chief political liar, Mark Halperin, bragged to Charlie Rose during the GOP convention (the night of Clint Eastwood's speech) that the GOP message, thanks to his colleagues, would be spun, refracted, and diced into incoherence before it got to the People. He was bragging that the GOP and the Right would never be able to get their message to the voters.

It’s very easy to see how a simple comment is seized upon, misinterpreted, spread incorrectly and then takes on a life of its own. Quite the object lesson.
Mr. Stevens daughter's school is a mile from Sandy Hook, so they locked down.
This is an explanation needed only for liberals. As the guys comments are self explanatory to anyone who half listens to what he said.

Only a fool believes that Sandy Hook was a school shooting on par with Fort Hood. Bunch of democrat liars and plants, that’s all. Stevens was most likely a plant whose use was to be the token “Republican” from this scandal as the voice from the other side of the gun control debate. Now that he has been debunked, we are back to square one: no genuine emotion. Just fake tears, lies, fake stories, inappropriate laughter, odd smiles and general distortion surrounding this deceptive group of liars with Sally Cox, Robbie Parker and Gene Rosen leading the Sandy Hook Liar Patrol.

My pleasure. The Sandy Hook “grievers” and “witnesses” tell more lies than Satan himself. It’s not my problem if people want to listen to proven liars and fakers like Robbie Parker and Sally Cox instead of me. That’s their problem.
