The war of words between conservatives and former Bush advisor Karl Rove has gone nuclear, this time over Rove's claim that he worked for Ronald Reagan's 1980 campaign and on a Reagan advisory board.
The bottom line: While Rove told The O'Reilly Factor Thursday that he worked for the Gipper, Reagan's acclaimed biographer Craig Shirley says there's no evidence to back Rove up.
Worse: In an email Shirley is sending to conservative leaders, he reveals that Rove backed former President Ford in 1976 and in 1980 worked for former Texas governor Clements who didn't back Reagan until after he was nominated.
Shirley penned the book about Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, Rendezvous with Destiny, and today said he confirmed his research about Rove with several former Reagan campaign aides...

The present sorry state of RINO Leaders such as the Esteemed Sobber of The House John “Doormat” Boehner is encapsulated in the Congressional RINO Mantra: “ We have to find a Bipartisan Compromise that will pass both Houses, and that Obama will sign.”
This Congressional RINO Mantra is directly taken from The Buckley Rule which states: “Support the most Conservative Candidate that can win.”
IOW, the assumption of what is good or bad is not a factor for the Country or the GOP. The assumption is that one can discern what will be accepted by others is something that can be known before it is tried.
Thus, Obama or Reid can immobilize the RINO dominated US House of Representatives by just saying “NO” at a press conference to any idea that a RINO might propose.
The result is that only 3 people are needed to manage the US Federal Government: Senate, House and White House Leaders. Currently that is Reid, Boehner and Jarrett, respectively.
Hence, the RINOs have insured that the US Federal Government will not be good for America.
The RINOs have made it very easy for the Democrats to grind America to a halt.
By rejecting the RINOs’ Buckley Rule, the GOP will open the Party to Candidates that are good for the Party.
By rejecting the Congressional RINO Mantra, the US Congress will be open to political action that will override the current 3 leader ‘stall, delay and deny’ political nightmare.
It is pointless to blame the Communists and Socialists in the US Federal Government, because they are just doing what Communists and Socialists do best: regulate, Control and DESTROY!
Between now and the National Election in 2014, the only obstacle that needs to be overcome is the RINO control of the Republican Party.

Without you, I would have noticed that Rove and the Bushes has done more damage to conservatism than Pelosi, Obama, Reid or Clinton ever did or could have. Without you, I would have thought that Kinder and Gentler meant Reagan was unkind, that Compassionate Conservatism implied that regular conservatism was uncaring, that it was good to destroy the conservative ascendancy in the political arena and open the door for a plurality to elect Clinton, and for a bare majority to elect a bonehead Halfrican. Karl Rove was the architect of all that while the Bushes occupied the building he constructed. Thank you for astutely determining that the real enemy was the honest barbarian who entered the city and slaughtered its citizens, and not the dishonest collaborator who opened the city gate for them.
I already said I do not like Karl Rove. So we are on the same plane. It does not bother me if Rove is pushing Rino’s. It is his money. This is a free country (at least yet). It would bother me a great deal if he is openly criticizing conservatives who can win. Please name a few conservative candidates he has attacked who have demonstrable wining attributes. So I can get a better perspective on Rove.
To me the most important criteria in sending campaign cash to any candidate is...is he or she politically astute and can push back liberal media effectively. I made the mistake of sending cash to Christine O’Donell before finding out her history could be easily attacked and exploited. Never again.

AFAIK Rove is free to spend money on anybody he likes. This is still a free country. I have never sent any money to his PAC’s. How exactly you propose to stop Rove’s operation? Please pontificate on a practical method of getting rid of Rove. Just criticizing Rove on this forum will not get rid of Rove’s multi-million dollar operation & PAC’s.
Well, Buckwheat is pretty high on my list also, but I think that some of the worst enemies of Conservatism are in fact Rove and the RNC that gave us Romney and McCain, consequently ensuring defeat from the nights of the nomination. Any bunch of idiots that lets the other side choose our nominee are encouraging and ensuring total disaster. First, all "open" primaries must be punished, or at least not allowed to vote first. By the time conservative states have their primaries, the nomination is OVER, and the RINO has been nominated.
Do you happen to have a link or two where Rove published a column in any important media criticizing governor Palin?
Which candidate was running against gov Palin whom Rove was supporting? In which election?

I always though the primary voters gave us McCain & Romney. Are you mad at Rove because he gave them monetary help? Is there any realistic method you propose to stop people like Rove giving money to candidates of their choice?
I know exactly why Romney won nomination in 2012. He never received more than 30% of votes in primaries until it was clear he was inevitable. But the more conservative candidates had no unity. No one dropped out except Cain. Newt & Rick fought to the bitter end. That is why we got Romney. One on one, either Newt or Rick beats Mittens easily.
I will agree Rove is no friend of conservatives. So how exactly would you stop him from giving money to RINO’s?
Late to this party, but I have thought about why the pubs don’t seem to mind losing so much. The more the left frightens us, the more MONEY we give the gop to try and fight the left. They keep us afraid so they can live in the style to which THEY have become accustomed.
They don’t want to win because if we start feeling like we are gaining, they lose even when they win. The elite power structure is a meld of both parties and their only goal is personal power. They don’t give a damn about you or me or anyone else.
If you bother to read all my posts on this thread it will be clear to you I never sent a dime to Rove or his PAC. So how am I helping Rove, GOPe or the RINO’s?
