US Navy unable to refuel carrier due to budget cuts
U.S. Naval Institute ^ | 2/8/13 | Sam LaGrone

The U.S. Navy will delay the refueling of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) for an unknown period because of the uncertain fiscal environment due to the ongoing legislative struggle, the service told Congress in a Friday message obtained by USNI News.

Yet somehow the Navy found money to purchase breathalyzers (oops. I mean "alcohol detection devices") for every command as well as the training on how to properly use them.

Yep! Gotta love Obama's Navy! No money for fuel but you'd better be sober when you cross the quarterdeck or you'll be packing your bags for civilian life.

This is right out of the socialist playbook.

Whenever budget cuts are required they do not look to the fraud and waste, they cut (or threaten to cut) something the citizens care about.

On the local level it is police and fire, closing parks, library and so on.

Obama is just doing it on a national scale.

Actually for this administration it is a win win. They would be happy to de-fund our entire military in order to give more money to the parasites.

I chose the word “parasite” on purpose. We are way beyond being a compassionate people of helping those through no fault of their own need help.

Like all parasites they are sucking the life out of the host. Eventually they will be the cause of the death of our once great nation.

No money for fuel

Just to be clear a Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) for a Nuclear-powered carrier is a 3 billion dollar, 3-year long process. It isn't buying some fuel and pouring it in a tank.

We can't take freedom of the seas for granted. Our commerce depends on it. Without the U.S. Navy, pirates will multiply everywhere. And it'll happen quicker than you'll think.

Even without the war, I don’t believe it. Shipyard availabilities for refueling nuclear warships are planned years in advance. The new core is already built and ready for installation. Carriers use a lot of EFPH’s and driving slow is not really an option.

Hopefully any reader will realize that “refueling” of a nuclear vessel is just a tab bit more complex than pulling up to a gas pump.

Anyone who still supports this person and his regime is either a dangerous fool or the mortal enemy of the United States. I was just watching Bob Beckel defend him on The Five and I just can’t believe that anyone would hate this country so much to refuse to even acknowledge that Obama could be wrong about anything. Good people cannot co-exist with these leftists anymore.

Our military will be experiencing what the Soviet Union’s military went through after it went bankrupt. It’s ironic, but Obama is doing the same thing to us as Reagan did to the Soviet Union. Our most serious enemy is a domestic one.

Yes, I'm aware of this. I'm also aware of several other instances of mission capability being degraded due to lack of money that aren't making the news. I see this stuff every day. The commands have no money for spare parts, aviation fuel and logistics and it is only a matter of time before the mishaps start accumulating.

But we have shiny, brand-new breathalyzers! Yay!

“We can’t take freedom of the seas for granted. Our commerce depends on it”

The US has the natural resources and human capital to be self sufficient. If piracy becomes a problem, perhaps there will be an economic incentive to bring factories back to this country.

China is building up its navy, let it protect its exports to the US and Europe. Why should we pay to protect Chinese or Japanese merchant shipping from pirates? Let them pay the cost. Perhaps their goods will then be more expensive making it more attractive to manufacture in the USA. Europe, Japan, Korea, and the Middle East have enjoyed a free ride with respect to defense for 60 years. We can’t afford to carry them anymore. They can either pony up or suffer the consequences.

Wow, just wow.

Remember when we used to make fun of the Russians because they couldn't refuel Kirov?

And the upgrades to the rest of the Battlecruisers were going to take like 8 Years in dry dock.

Well Congrats Ubama, you have literally turned us into the Soviet Union, next we will have a Garage Sale of our Military Hardware at Aberdeen proving ground.

Mission Accomplished

If this continues maybe we will break up into smaller independent nations, no longer sending tribute to Washington D.C.

Easy. Just tell the shipping companies that our Navy will only protect ships flying American flags. Tell all the rest to seek help from Liberia or Luxombourg or wherever they registered.

This sounds exactly like what the 0bamunists would pull...hit the media outlets with crap..”we can’t fuel up the ships as we have no money”...”we can’t fly the airplanes, we have no money”...”we can’t pay the troops, we have no money”.

This will be their way of handling the sequester, and they’ll point everyone of their boney little, snot encrusted fingers directly at the pubbies.

Rather than setting a prioritized agenda and making it work, Zero and his minions will use the sequester to bully the pubbies...who will, of course, cave.

Not an ounce of moral fiber or intestinal fortitude among them!

I do believe it due the chickenshits of this Leftist regime, and their boss Obama using our National Security not only in this instance, but the borders issue as well to achieve their goals to force their will upon the Congress, thus we the people. Playing with our National Security is playing with our lives. Let’s turn that around on them.

The Street Punk In Chief has to go along with every member of his gang. That’s right! They are just like any major gang in any major city, but they are the major gang running the entire Nation NOT just a city. If we have to use gang irradication means to rid ourselves of these punks, and thieves, then we’d better get with it. Whatever it takes.
