Actually my comment was directed at people like you who find a new superstar every couple of weeks and suggest that they be president based on one speech.

Next week he might turn around and suggest that we ban guns.

I’m pretty sure the Ben Carson for President article title... was not very serious in the first place lol It was highlighting the fact that if we elected a BRAIN surgeon, he seemingly understands the economy much better than this group of dolts.

Thank you. I was just about to ask, does anyone know his stance on the Second Amendment? I will never support anyone who opposes it in the least, by even the most so-called "common sense" (as the left pretends) abridgemnt of those rights. People are again getting excited over one speech and not digging deeper first. If, after checking out his conservative bona fides on this issue and others, he still looks good, then get excited. Haven't we seen this before, more than once?

For that matter, what about his views on amnesty and illegal immigration? Everyone got all stirred up over Rubio, and look what happened, and his views were already out there, it’s just no one bothered to think about it and check first before jumping on his bandwagon. Same with Chris Christie. Everyone liked his tough talk to the unions, but he turned out to be an utter RINO, and a gun-grabber.

I just found the following. It gives some perspective on Dr. Carson’s views in general.

It appears he is believer in and a defender of the Constitution, like all right-thinking people (like we here) are. :-)

I transcribed the following from a portion of the interview recording that is here:
http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Ben-Carson-Prayer-Obama/2013/02/08/id/489602

“World-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson told conservative radio and television host Armstrong Williams on Friday that his attacks on the nation’s ills in his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast this week were not directed at President Barack Obama.

In his first interview since upstaging the president at the event on Thursday, Carson, director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore said his comments were “directed at the situation that is going on in our nation and how we can solve it.”

Armstrong Williams - ...should it be a limited role for government, and what are the consequences of government playing too big a role in our lives?

Dr. Benjamin Carter - If you are a student of history, you know that there are many societies that started out saying the government will be here just for these purposes and people are pretty much on their own, and virtually in all cases the government just continues to grow and to grow and become more aggressive and pretty soon people lose their rights and pretty soon you have tyranny.

That’s the natural course of things.

The people who framed our Constitution tried to frame it in such a way that that would not happen.

And while we were respectful of the Constitution it did not happen.

But now there are many people who think maybe the Constitution is a little bit outdated, and that is a precursor for allowing the same thing that has happened to other societies to happen to us.

And those of us who understand this must be vigilant and must be outspoken and not allow the Constitution to be ignored .

I agree.

The talent pool of effective and credible advocates of conservatism is distressingly thin at the moment.

Next week he might turn around and suggest that we ban guns.

Or maybe he has a bimbo problem? Or maybe he just doesn't want to get too close to the hot kitchen (not that operating rooms are hot or anything)? Who knows?

His speech should be taken for what it is. If the speech maker should volunteer for further service, then we should seriously consider!

I guess a lot of us are desperate for a real leader. I listened to his speech and was very impressed. Can’t say that for many that have run for president.
