Our FReepathon. I did not have any money to give more to my favorite site. However, I did have a few gift cards, with small balances just sitting around.
I checked each and everyone of them to see how much was left. I had 4 in total (one was for .50 cents, lol).
The other 3 totaled $30.77. I was not sure if a cc charge was applied for donations, so I contacted onyx whom referred me to Jim Robinson.
Those last 3 donations from NY posted, were from me and my gift cards, sitting there collecting dust.
If any of you have gift cards sitting around, check the balance. There is a minimum of $3.00 for cc donation to FR.
Smart idea.....when you check the balances left, write down the last 4 numbers of the acct # and write down the amount left. Makes it SO much easier to process to the FReepathon.
I KNOW there are a lot of you with those gifts cards laying around collecting dust because of the small balances left.
THEY ADD UP! If only 10 FReepers had a collection of $30 seperate gift cards, that's an additional $300 bucks!
So go ahead, look in your drawers, wallets, closets, where ever you keep those cards. Look up the balance and donate them to FR!
Get looking and collecting!!! Remember, the minimum is $3.00.

How can the balance of a gift card, which is to be used at a certain merchant and not usually refundable in cash, be turned into a cash donation to Free Republic? I don’t know how it’s done.
If everyone just gave up a couple of Big Macs a month they could chip in with 120 bucks a year.
Visa, Mastercard, Amex gift cards. Store cards won’t work.
Sorry for not stating that. Thought it would be common knowledge.
If we could do it, I have $75 bucks just sitting here, unused!

If you want to bust the bank on a Freepathon, offer everyone who donates $25.00 or more a chance to win in a drawing for a brand new AR15 with 5 - 30 round magazines.
Keep it open until the end of Q1 and you might not have to have another Freepathon until Q4 of this year.

Well, I wouldn’t say my beloved NY, lol. I do believe we now have the strictest anti-second amendment laws in the country.
Was dying to leave, even making plans to escape to SC. Then a part of me wants to stay and fight these b@stards.

Everywhere! People giving you specific gift cards to stores probably think “I like them, so will you”.
When I give gift cards, I always give a cc one. That way they can use it for whatever they’d like, even to pay a bill (which I have done with several gift cards).
Ugh, the 2 of them. God help them (and me) if I ever come face to face with them.

FReepers might also do something along the lines of what I’ve been doing for years. I keep track of my loose change in my little purse, and donate the equivalent of the amount gathered weekly between each FReepathon.
If all of us just checked the change on hand in pockets or purses right at this moment — and donated it by CC, it would come to a tidy amount.
I don’t know about other states but here in Washington, if your card balance is less than $5.00 you can just cash it out at the store or whatever business it came from. Turn those small balance cards into real bucks and send it to FR.

I’m a monthly donor and I guess should feel satisfied with that. You know, smug that I’m doing my part.
But, you’ve inspired me. I’m going to put my thinking cap on the weekend and see if I can come up with an alternative, too.
We got 29 inches. I forced my boss, yesterday, to close the office today, and then he told us to get the heck out yesterday after the last patient, around 3:30. The snow was not supposed to start upon us until late afternoon. God stated differently and it started early/late morning.
Sandy was the whore of Babylon. This blizzard did not knock out anything. Just a bunch of beautiful pure white I have to go remove so I can head into work on Monday.

I also have 2 cats I am responsible for. Any extra money I have goes to the FReepathon.
$3 is the minimum cc contribution. Anything less then that, by all means, save em up, cash them in and send to FR.
