ATF's Milwaukee 'Fearless' storefront had little to ward off burglars
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 10 feb 2013 | John Diedrich and Raquel Rutledge )

The door had no deadbolt. The few scratches and marks told police the men had little trouble prying it open. Hard to believe it was all that stood between the burglars and a storefront full of goods belonging to federal agents running an undercover gun sting.

And who would imagine the thieves would have unfettered access to the place for three days, propping open the door with a shoe and returning the next day with a moving truck to finish the job?

But that's what happened as burglars hit the ATF's Fearless Distributing storefront in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood in October, making off with nearly $40,000 worth of merchandise - maybe more, according to interviews with neighbors and police reports newly obtained by the Journal Sentinel.

The burglars knew the place. They had been there before, drawing top dollar selling guns and drugs to undercover agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to court records.

Thanks to a neighbor who got the license plate number of the thieves' car, ATF agents quickly found two suspects and some of the stolen loot - shoes, purses, jeans.

This has the classic ear mark of a “Break Out” operation. I suspect that the agents themselves did the burglary and will enjoy the profits, likely with the blessing of supervisors.

We need government gun control for the safety of the citizenry. What the heck does the government need guns for anyway, all they do is give them to criminals.

My thoughts, as well.

Don’t we all feel safer with the ATF in charge?

Thanks for posting; just read it on-line this morning.

As far as I’m concerned ANY AND ALL arguments in favor of further gun laws are now null and void.

The lunatics are truly running the asylum these days.

Off to the range...which is my back 40, LOL!

I think the article is hogwash. This looks like another example of the ATF giving away firearms in hopes of generating a massacre to be used for gun control purposes.

It should not come as a surprise that FedGov agencies are hopelessly inept at doing even the most simple and obvious things. Remember that the IRS ran the Mustang Ranch in Nevada at a loss (!) while auctioning it off for unpaid taxes. If the government cannot make prostitution pay, they haven't a clue in a gun shop sting run by ATF.
