Gun Control and the Constitution

Could there be a better illustration of the cultural divide over firearms than the White House photograph of our skeet-shooting president? Clay pigeons are launched into the air, but the president's smoking shotgun is level with the ground. This is not a man who is comfortable around guns. And that goes a long way toward explaining his gun-control agenda.

Lack of informed presidential leadership aside, there is a gulf between those Americans who view guns as invaluable tools for self-defense, both against private wrongdoers and a potentially tyrannical government, and those who regard that concept as hopelessly archaic and even subversive. For them, hunting is the only possible legitimate use of firearms, and gun ownership should be restricted to weapons suited to that purpose.

This article brings it all back into perspective. The government's duty is to protect the rights documented in the Constitution. Obama and his administration cannot take away our rights simply to make a point. The government needs ensure that the rights of the American people remain consistent even in times of political turmoil. That my friends is the foundation of America. Lets hope others begin to realize this soon.

Speaking of the Constitution: If we can limit the number of rounds in a firearm magazine, we can limit the number of pages in a Hustler magazine. The same specious utilitarian logic that applies to the first also applies to the second.

“. . . Obama and his administration cannot take away our rights simply to make a point. . .”

The US Constitution is nothing more and nothing less that an obstruction to the “statist utopia” these socialist are pushing on every American and exactly who the moochers party wants!

Watch the socialist temper-tantrum along with the old media after the real conservatives puts the brakes on their so called “gun control” legislation. the US Constitution be damned, full steam ahead with disarming the American people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The leftist were embarrassed in front of their buddies in the UN when they could not get through a United Nations Small Arms control Treaty, so now, they are going to show their ilk in the UN they too can disarm these nasty and dangerous backwoods hicks of their firearms!!

Sit back and watch the fireworks my fellow Americans! It gets really good when the socialist are told “NO!”

Eight Deuce on the Loose!

How can any law like registration, which turns a right into a regulated conditional privilege, be constitutional? Legitimate government interest or not, the government was NOT delegated the authority to infringe upon the RIGHT to keep and bare arms. This applies both to the federal government and to the States through the due process clause of the 14th Amendment.

I'm not sure if you just made that up, but it's brilliant. Especially in light of Falwell vs Flynt, and what the left thinks comprises free speech.

People a lot smarter than Feinstein and Obama wrote the Constitution and gave Americans rights.

We are not going to let some feminist dipstick, and a Muslim ,,forged birth certificate bi-sexual ding dong who lies about being a Constitutional scholar take them away

They may think Americans are stupid , but we are smart enough to know that when they take away the 2nd Amendment they may as well scraap the whole thing.-—and they will.

Supreme Court's 2008 decision in Heller v. District of Columbia confirmed that the Second Amendment means what it says: "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Umm, no it didn't. Didn't Alito him self write that the State could have "common" sense restrictions?

Some one please correct me if I'm wrong.

Obama doesn’t care a rat’s posterior about the Constitution...it’s all about absolute government power and control. As for the SCOTUS decisions, Obama is just one justice appointment away from getting anything he wants. Roberts is willing to use clever sophistry to twist the Constitution and the Obama appointees would just as soon use UN tribunals as the US courts.

The current gun control proposals are the 21st Century version of the Poll Tax. Don’t want a certain demographic voting, tax and regulate the voting process. Don’t want a certain demographic owning firearms, tax and regulate them so that they are unaffordable.

Not to nit pick, but the Founders wrote the Constitution to recognize Americans have God given rights and instituted a Government charged with protecting those rights and prohibited them from abridging them.

It's an important distinction.

most JUDGES don’t care about the constitution and SPECIFICALLY the second amendment.

Judges HATE HATE HATE the first amendment when it comes to recalling judges. They disguise it as “judicial independence” when they are really selling judicial tyrany.

If we can limit the number of rounds in a firearm magazine, we can limit the number of pages in a Hustler magazine.

...we can limit the days on which non-whites are free and can enjoy "low capacity" civil rights.
...we can limit the number of times women can vote.
...we can tax Qurans to limit their distribution.
...we can require Mosques to get a "permit" for "hi-capacity" morning prayers.
...we can limit the number of gay couples a church can marry.
...we can limit the number of abortions a woman can have.
...we can make Citizens get a "Privacy Permit" in order to exercise their 4th Amendment Rights.

etcetora, etcetora, etcetora.

NONE of these the Left would ever dare endorse. It's always the 2nd Amendment they attack with zeal.

No our rights were given to us by God - the Government is NOT the source of our rights. The Constitution is one of NEGATIVE RIGHTS telling the Government what they CANNOT do.
