The U.S. is a victim of a massive and sustained campaign of cyber espionage, according to a classified intelligence assessment revealed by the Washington Post on Monday.
These periodic assessments, officially called National Intelligence Estimates (NIE), are issued by the Director of National Intelligence to express the general consensus of the intelligence community and to inform policymakers.
That the United States is the target of a large cyber espionage campaign seems like a foregone conclusion, given recent developments. In the last few weeks, there have been reports of complex cyber attacks against papers like the New York Times or The Wall Street Journal, both attributed to Chinese hackers. And the U.S. government has pointed the finger at Iran, accusing the Islamic republic of being behind a string of attacks against U.S. banks.
Also in January, online security giant Kaspersky Lab uncovered a giant cyber espionage operation codenamed Red October, which experts believed was carried out by either Russia or China.
China is deemed by the report as the biggest American enemy in the cyber world. France, Israel and Russia are also included in the report, but these last three countries' espionage efforts "pale in comparison" to China's.

Isn't it just amazing that the Washington post decides to publish this type of story today, in light of the fact that the White House is poised to release an executive order from Der Fuhrer aimed at thwarting cyberattacks against critical infrastructure on Wednesday?
I'm preparing to be shocked halfway out of my socks when unspecified "attacks" inexplicably "force" the feral government to "wrest control" of undefined "portions" of the internet from unspecified "attackers." Vaguely worded "preliminary damage assessments" will "indicate" the problem may take feral government scientists and engineers as long as ten days to "restore to working order."
Rugged individuals masquerading as "journalists" in the failed main stream "news" media will be too busy filing progress reports to waste time looking into rumors hundreds and perhaps even thousands of "right wing sniper assault high-powered cop killer war weapon child pornography racist advocacy and anarchic socially irresponsible violent insurrection extremism" sites have vanished into the ether.
Oh, by the way, we, umm... do have a back-up means of communication, don't we?
There is an easy counterattack. Immediately impose a 100% tariff on Chinese products imported into this country. Their economy will implode as it is production driven and its factories need large volumes from foreign purchasers to survive. To remain competitive in the US market, Chinese companies will have to slash prices thereby destroying profit margins and cash for investment.
The Chinese are in an economic war with the US. It is not free trade. Time to fight fire with fire.

I’m not really wiling to pay $15 for a toothbrush or $1500 for a smart phone made in the USA. Our labor costs has priced us out of most of. The manufacturing needed to maintain ourselves.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not really in the mood to slave away on some assembly line making worthless crap either.
You figure out the solution to those two problems and you will be amazed at how the “evils” of free trade just solve themselves.
The biggest cyber espionage threat in the US is the Federal Government on its own people.

This is a load of bullshit in my opinion. The goal of these alerts is to warm up the citizens to increased tyranny.
I respect the efforts of our fellow citizens in the area of national security; doubtful, however, about the intent related to these reports.

People mistakenly think that the big reason for moving production off-shore is the price of the labor. In consumer electronics, it isn’t. It’s the currency arb, easy tax environment and the ability to site everything in the supply chain within close proximity.
And getting those jobs filled is easy. There are people lining up hundreds deep to work in slaughterhouses when they raid illegals out of the slaughterhouses, they’ll line up even deeper to work on an assembly line where you’re not knee-deep in blood and guts all day.
