There have been 65,376,373 background checks completed for Americans purchasing firearms since February of 2009, the first full month of Barack Obama's presidency.
According to data compiled by the FBI, the number of Americans purchasing guns has skyrocketed since Obama was elected.
In 2009, there were 13,984,953 background checks for Americans buying firearms. If we subtract the 1,212,860 checks completed in the month of January, the total checks for the year under Obama were 12,772,090.
For 2010, background checks totaled 14,320,489. In 2011, checks were 16,336,732, and in 2012, 19,463,832. Background checks for the month of January 2013 were 2,483,230.
This totals 65,376,373 background checks completed since President Obama's first full month in office, or 44,748 background checks per day!
By comparison, the number of gun purchases in Obama's first term is 91.1% higher than President George W. Bush's first-term total of 34,214,066 background checks.
Still far outpaced by OHS buying all that ammunition though.
Afraid so....would like to see honest numbers for both sides....
“Gun and magazine sales skyrocket every time a democrat politician starts to vulture in on a tragedy.
I dont know if many of you realize this, but Barack Obama is personally responsible for more gun sales,
and especially first time gun purchases, than anyone in history.
When I owned my gun store, we had a picture of him on the wall
and a caption beneath it which said SALESMAN OF THE YEAR.” Larry Correia (firearms FFL/SWAT trainer)
Emporer Obama has been focused like a laser on creating jobs making and selling guns and ammo.
How many 100W incandescent light bulbs were purchased during the same period?
Just picked up a 30-06 at WalMart on Sat. Doin’ my part...can’t find any brass or powder for it though.
That doesn’t include the purchases done without a paper trail.
Every family of 4 should own, 4 Ruger 10/22s, 4 MIni 14s, 4 Shotguns, 4 Handguns, 2 Springfield M1A .308. and plenty of ammo. Then build on that and buy what you want.
.22s are in short supply all over this area...
How true....and that is the scary part...
One commenter at the site: “It’s only 91% because gun makers can’t make them any faster.”
I think that is true...
I read somewhere this morning that one of the manufacturers were making 300 guns per day and still could not keep up...
Horde ammo!
One needs a safe place to store them. I am afraid I am running out of room.
I think I understand what a junkie feels like.
I go into Walmart for bread and milk, I go straight to sporting goods.
If there's any .22 lr, .223, 9mm, .45 or .308 I buy it.
I have a thousand rounds of all those calibers... but I buy as much as they'll allow anyway.
It's an obsession!
Agghh!! Is there a twelve step program for this?
This shows that the most effective way to keep new guns from going on ‘the streets’ is to have Obama resign.
He should do it for Gabby, and the little ones, aka ‘The Babies’
Now we have a Gun Safe shortage?
no doubt all these purchasers are intensely loyal to the current regime and are buying guns to help it impose Shariah Law after it confiscates all remaining private property in America?
Wait, I thought O and SlowJoe have been telling us people were buying these guns without background checks.
Mil-Surp 30-06 M2 Ball Ammo at CMP.
Get 200 rounds packaged loose in a 30 cal ammo can @ $98 plus shipping.
“...is to have Obama resign.”
Why can’t our glorious leader now top the Pope? The Pope resigned and now Obama can out do the Pope’s lead and resign and go one step further, leave -— leave for another planet.
I suspect cities tagged with 'joint exercises' will contribute the personnel to shoot that obscene quantity of ammo...
Since dems partner with criminals and/or minorities my guess is Hispanics from the Miami police force will be part of 'the team'. What other cities had joint exercises with police and military working together? Anyone know the military leaders doing these joint exercises? Are they the same people?
what are the most popular/common actual brand of [insert arm here] and calibers.
i thought 22 was more practice type use.
I don’t like buying ammo on-line, the shipping costs bother me and I prefer to make my own. I may be forced to soon though.
Actually, I just visited their web page. The shipping costs aren’t that bad, and the price is pretty good for that Greek stuff. Thanks
That doesn’t count additional millions bought at gun shows and other private sales. This population is armed to the teeth. It must stay that way.
I feel like a slacker. I haven’t purchased a firearm in years. (After the 2008 election, I stocked up on powder and primers).
I’m making a commitment to buy at least three handguns in 2013!
Ditto here in Knoxville, TN. No bricks available at all. Right now my range is selling each 50 rd. box of long rifle rounds for $10.00, 20 cents a round.
Holy, crap! That’s 100 million transfers, many I am sure were new firearms. As another poster puts it, they ain’t buying because someone might ban them, they are buying them because they believe they will need them.
People voted with their wallets and told Dear Leader what they think of his efforts to take away their method of self-protection.
I don't see a problem that needs solving....
Consider secret vaults built within a wall or under a closet floor. ;>)
I am working on that right now.
Another thing to remember is that guns are very durable. With care, a gun will last a century or more. I bought all I think I'll need by the end of the Clinton presidency.
Yep. As you may recall, part of the Cloward-Piven strategy was to “overwhelm the system”. I find it ironic that we gun owners and purchasers are now doing a very good job of that.
Same here. We still buy when new models come out that we like, like the Ruger LCP.
Sorry to hear that....:)
I’ll wager than 80% of the people who purchase a firearm already have 3-10 in the closet.
More than you think have several dozen or more than a hundred.
Lot’s of community organizers out there, ready to go.
A brick of target/subsonic went for a little under $12.00.
One of my favorites!
He says he has more to do before leaving, he will tell you all about it tonight.
Its only 91% because gun makers cant make them any faster.

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.
RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.
FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out!
Armalite: Maxed out.
DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product.
COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's.
LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.
Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.
AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.
MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.
RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted...
I read somewhere this morning that one of the manufacturers were making 300 guns per day and still could not keep up...
I got it from a guy I know, in the field, that a company local to us is putting out thirty thousand AR lowers a week. This is a back end supplier to the industry. Forging and casting is what they do.
That is truly amazing! I wonder if it’s possible for the citizenry to amass this kind of firepower, without something horrible breaking out. I sure hope the government doesn’t make any stupid mistakes, like, not keeping their appropriate place.
Does the NRA count as being a member of a “club”?

There's a bit at the bottom that I didn't copy/paste:
They didnt know when theyd be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers were running full-bore, but couldnt come close to keeping up with market demand. It wasnt just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that were sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 carbines, and Enfield .303s were gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagantsof which every gun store always seems to have 10-20were gone. So was their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. Ive never seen anything like it.Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isnt a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.
There was already somewhere north of 400 million firearms in private hands so another 65 million doesn’t change the equation a whole lot. The number of citizens who own one or more firearms is somewhere north of 100 million as well. Anyone who thinks the gooberment is going to go door to door and confiscate them should crunch some numbers and look at how much personnel would be needed, how much money would have to be allocated and how many years it would take.
So they’ll be looking for alternatives to the door to door method...
I don't know what other alternative they have.
