There are no Republicans on Capitol Hill.

Just Democrats with bad Mardi Gras masks.

Hagel would have collaborated with the Nazis in Paris during WWII.

did anyone really think he wouldn’t be confirmed?

He’ll probably be confirmed by more than 90 Senators.

This just gets it out of committee. Does not mean he will be confirmed.

The Republicans never had the votes to stop Hagel in committee. Hopefully on the floor, it’s another story.

He has the votes for confirmation. Remember, Democrats hold the Senate and none of them will vote against him. Republicans aren't likely to filibuster a President's cabinet choice either. Elections have consequences. We can't defeat any of Obama's nominees because we failed to win back the Senate in 2010/2012.

It’s a matter of a filibuster, and that’s a matter of only 5 republicans joining with the democrats to support Hagel.

Pick 5 rinos who aren’t up for reelection for 4 years + and you’ve got a confirmation.

McCain sounds like he’ll be one of them already.

So Graham and Inhofe talked tough, got their 5 minutes, and then went with the rest of the eunuchs.

Clearly they are counting on the short memories of Americans, and I like their chances.

Inhofe doesn’t want Hagel at all and Graham is demanding answers on Benghazi.

Inhofe and Graham have stated that they will block confirmation of Hagel. There are many others. A fillibuster is a real possibility.

No, they voted against.

Dems had enough votes to pass it out of committee themselves. No GOP votes.

There was never any way to block it in committee.

There’s still at least a chance that it may be blocked in the Senate, although that would be some kind of miracle, as the Republican establishment gets worse and worse every day.

The Republicans do not have enough votes to sustain a filibuster even if they tried it. There are always some Republicans, even some conservatives, who believe the President should get his nominees unless they are convicted felons or something. Hagel is a national joke and an enemy of Israel, but he will be confirmed. Sorry, but it is what it is.

No vote has been taken, and probably won’t be until at least 5PM

Here’s the live feed of the hearing...

http://www.c-span.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN3/

Each Senator, and there’s 26 on the committee, has 8 minutes to make a statement.

Cruz rocks!

Hagel has refused to submit financial information from speeches to groups.

It may be that Hagel spoke before radical groups and received compensation, or before defense contractors and received compensation.

Now quoting Harry Reid regarding John Bolton. Har!
