Read the Wiki post on "Turk-Son"

The Roman connection is surprisingly explicit.

One would expect ‘the Roman’ to be a Roman, yes?

I mean other than every pope is the Bishop of Rome.

And, of course it is the office of Peter.

So, no matter what, the next and every pope is “Peter the Roman”?

What am I missing?

If the next pope is against gay marriage, or disagrees with the U.N. in any way, he will be hounded until he resigns. Because after all, now we know, popes can resign for anything.

Hey Johnny; Why don't you see if your guitar can play a different note.

Gee, ya think this guy sounds...entitled or something

Maybe Papal humility has at times, been an illusion maintained only in public

However

it is very very unusual and off putting for a prognosticated Papal successor to be so arrogant about “his” presumptive future role

I hope they pick someone else because of this man’s lack of humility, and his politicking on his personal agenda

Based on previous things I had read about Turkson I liked him, a lot. But this Article really shows something much different. If these quotes are accurate (It is the UK telegraph, not the most supportive of the Catholic Church) then I have to agree with you.

If this doesn’t bump Cardinal Ouellet up to clear front-runner status, I don’t know what will.

As of this morning, Turkson’s odds on PaddyPower have dropped from 3:! to 4:1 (third place) behind Ouellet at 7:2 and Scola at 4:1.

The more I read about Cardinal Ouellet, the more I’m convinced he’s everything the catholic church needs in a pope.

And I’m not catholic.

This would dove tail with another “prophecy” about a converted Turk becoming Pope.

Then who is the great Monarch?

And he appears to speak the languages of many of the world’s Catholics, in addition to a few others...

But he does not speak Latin, the language of the Church. Go figure?

Still pushing that phoney strawman, eh Nick? The current Pope was 85. He did not resign over nothing. A whole lot of people never even live to 85.

World Net Daily (I know,I know) thinks it's going to be this guy(From an email):

"Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro (Peter in English) Evasio Bertone, born in Romano Canavese, Piedmont"

There may be some reverse psychology going on. Acting like you have the Papacy "in the bag" going into the conclave is a good way to ensure you won't get elected. If we know this, Cardinal Turkson certainly does.

I know who I want. He has all the qualifications, is the right age, says all the right things. I'll light a candle for him tonight at church. It's not Cardinal Turkson.

Well I'll be damned.

You are a clown!

The next Pope will continue to hold fast the teachings of Scripture and the traditions of the Church.

The Pope is NOT susceptible to his detractors, and do not resign lightly, as evidenced by history.

Cardinal Bertone is 78 (too old; they’ll want a man younger than 70 IMO) and has great difficulty with English. (When Pope Benedict toured the US and Cdl. Bertone was required to speak, he spoke Spanish.). Bogus prophecy or no bogus prophecy ... nope, won’t happen.

Then who is the great Monarch?

he (lowercase "h" on purpose) hasn't entered the world stage yet. he'll come forward in some convoluted "world" office that has an equally convoluted title, like Global Public Authority, the very thing Turkson has called for.

In response to the global economic crisis started in 2008, Cardinal Turkson, together with bishop Mario Toso, elaborated a proposal to reform the international financial system by creating a Global Public Authority and a Global Bank that consider the interest of all developing countries.

Oops. I mixed up the two Pete/Peters that are both considered top candidates.
